Walmart store in WV with police | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76338727 United States 04/05/2020 03:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People won’t listen to the social distancing orders, employees are getting sick so staffing is down, all the while people hoard toilet paper. So they are going to temp check people, limit the number of people to a certain percentage of the store’s occupancy then let people in one at a time. One way aisles are also coming within the next week. If this doesn’t work general merchandise will be blocked off allowing only food purchases. If that doesn’t work worst hit stores will only do pickup or close entirely. People felt it necessary to congregate and socialize. Now employees are sick and they can’t staff the store to stock it. People have no one to blame but themselves. I personally hope they have to close at least some stores. |

They're trying to enforce 1 entrance door and one exit door so they can count and not exceed X-amount of customers per 1000 square feet floor space. They have to do this since nobody adheres to 6' spacing. We're a very stubborn lot, set in our ways, thinking we're special. Everyone else be damned and go away. |

If people won’t comply they will just close the store. People don’t get it, these corporations are not going to open themselves to fines and lawsuits. I have first hand knowledge of the Wal-Mart plan. If people don’t get in line they are prepared to close stores. If things don’t fall in line there are stores that will be closed by this time in two weeks. I used to work there. I have absolutely zero sympathy for anyone if they do. Customers think they don’t have to listen. Maybe a “temporarily closed” sign on the door will fix their attitude. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78346412 United States 04/05/2020 07:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I stopped by Walmart yesterday afternoon, and it was an even more dystopian scene than usual. They had set up a wall of shopping carts at the entrance to force people into a line so they could count everyone going in and out. And a voice on loudspeakers in the parking lot was announcing that store access was being temporarily limited. I couldn’t decide if it was a scene from 28 Days After or The Crazies. Perhaps the real reason they closed the movie theaters is to avoid competition with the ongoing COVID-19 production. User ID: 77232079 United States 04/05/2020 10:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Any suggestions? Quoting: Renaissance Woman Someone posted on our little neighborhood blog (central NC) that the local Walmart is starting this kind of thing, and the person was innocently asking other people how long of a wait they experienced. I thanked the poster for letting us know so we can avoid that store and any others doing the same. All hell has broken loose on the thread, people wanting to know why I would say such a thing, boycotting stores that are trying to enforce social distancing and SAVE LIVES! I just think it's draconian, boiling the frog. I have not responded to the comments. It shows my name and location, so I don't want to start any real fights. What do you guys think? Any suggestions for a response from me? Or just stay out of it and let the sheep spin? Gosh, honestly, I think you just need to be careful what you say and get off ALL identifying social media, for real. I don't even say boo at work about this, I tried just hinting around, and even good old boys I work with think this sh*t is all real, so yah, lay low. |

Was out Corridor G today, was in no mood to even drive by that Wal-Mart, but noticed Best Buy had a similar setup. Canopy by the door, and ropes forming the line, saw no one in line or cars in parking lot though. All others stores in the plaza were closed or appeared closed. Except for Target and Lowes, they looked like it was a typical sunday business as usual... |

Really, think about it, you’re going to a store that buys all its merchandise from 3rd world communist countries. People are upset that Wal-Mart is limiting their lawsuit and fine exposure? I don’t blame Wal-Mart. I’d do the same thing if I were them. Entitled whining customers think they know better deserve exactly what they’re getting, they choose to make these retailers big by shopping there, now they’re gonna have to comply. if I were Wal-Mart I’d close all the stores for a month. |
