Probably since shipping and mailing costs have gone up 5 times in the last 2 years.

Anyone?

It just strikes me as being very odd. There is no reason for that slash to be there...especially since it has never been there before.

Are you saying this means they are not 'Forever' stamps anymore?

In the past, you bought them at the current price, but could still use them until they were gone.

Ok, that is really fucking weird. Why not just remove it, instead of crossing it out?

could it be so you can't print the picture off the website? like a watermark simply to prevent counterfeiting?

Maybe an SOS since Trump is willing to do away with the USPS ( which the Constitution provides for ) since the Dems suggest mail in ballots ?

Re: Since when did the USPS cross out 'Forever' on Postage Stamps?
I think the USPS has been on the way out for a while...but I think many are using it more since the lockdown. I know I am sending more letters, just for the heck of it, and I know others are sending cards and such through the mail.

Interesting thoughts about Bezos and voting.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Interesting speculations. Please keep them coming. The slash makes no sense to me at all.

You can just print your own stamps. I have no problem with counterfeiters, they are just doing what the central bankers do.

LOL! The "forever" is crossed out because they don't want people to try and copy and use it as actual postage.

The strikethru is not on the actual postage stamps. The online images use it like a watermark to minimize counterfeiting.

Yes, this is the correct answer.

At the post office they have those dirty plastic mats at the counter advertising stamps, and the oversized Forever stamps on there also have the strike.

Mystery Solved...

Something that many find confusing is why when they look at Forever® Stamp designs, the word Forever is crossed out. Why is Forever crossed out on the stamp? A quick answer is, it isn’t. When you actually buy the stamp, you’ll find the word ‘Forever’, or any of the other purpose words such as ‘Postcard’ will not be crossed out. For viewing purposes, you can see what the stamp looks like in the preview online, without giving digital thieves the ability to simply copy the image and print their own counterfeit stamps illegally, and possibly even sell them to you!

Digital cameras and scanners leave watermarks that allow counterfeit (or other interesting photos) to be traced back to the original device.

It was for Earth Day, don't freak out. On H. Turner's site, he's implying something nefarious but that was the last straw for Hal. I now think his site is all B.S. or free stories from elsewhere that he wants you to pay him for.
