If ya have access to Netflix, watch the series Dark. Its 2 seasons, so far. However, its German and subtitled, but don't let that deter you. It is an absolutely mind bending sci-fi drama. I knew within the first minute it was gonna be worth the time.

Like a couple others suggested, very top of my list is Serenity BUT, first, you gotta watch the 14 episodes of Firefly. Joss Whedon's masterpiece! The show got cancelled & anyone who ever watches the episodes will see what a horrible idea that was. Major major cult following & years of campaigning led to the making of Serenity to finish telling the story.

Two more recommendations - one old, one new. As someone else also said (if you haven't seen it), Time Bandits. Classic. Weird & different from everything else.

New... The Host. I picked this up at RedBox only after exhausting the rest of the available selection ~ a random choice out of sheer boredom. I was shocked as hell how much I enjoyed it. Really great storytelling, & it's like a sleeper or something because hardly anyone has seen this movie.

The rest I would give a second watch... and have.

Thinking of something possibly unusual and I remembered one from way back. Just found out it was a Don Bluth film. He has a particular style did some good works. Most I saw when I was a lot younger so it's been years since.

It's a little cheesy, the target demographic would be 15yr old boy, but I was somewhere around there when I saw it. No different than the more recent films like Valerian or even The Fifth Element. That sort of area.

Man, I had such a thing for Jenny Agutter when I saw her in that as a kid. It was painful. Then I saw her recently in Call the Midwife. I felt better.

As a popcorn flick it's ok. Solid sci-fi action. Fast paced. Good effects.

Was browsing for something else but found this instead. the only bad thing about The Expanse is waiting for the next season.

This character was so funny and well done. They manage to get the tension down to jaw dropping. It also gives an idea on what you will be in for with this series.

I watched earlier after you said this, way better than rating - recommending.

Read the Expanse in it's original novel form.. Same with Altered Carbon
