Do a search on google and click on the image tab. The ones I saw had a white head and black body. The feathers around the head had white stripes all the way down their back.

Don't matter what color the covering is - all of em taste like chicken :)

Yes they will have white feathering around their neck and back area. If You want chickens as pets look into silkies or cochin bantams.

Dude, I dk how to post pics on glp because I don't have a 3rd party acct to do so. Females are generally like a dark brown, with gray penciling. I.e., their feathers are outlined in white. I'm trying to figure out if roosters are always starkly different, or if they can be penciled too.

Dark Brahma chickens are gentle giants with feathered legs. They lay nice brown eggs and are winter hardy. The Dark Brahma chicken is slow to mature but are gentle and make good mothers. (apperently)

So, I had all silkies, but got 6 regular white pullets and and half have the penciled look.
Just integrated all this past weekend.
So far, so good.
Let you know if any turn to roosters, but they're not supposed to. I already have 2 roosters.

Well, I have buff orpingtons, plus others. They currently have no rooster. So I've been buying chicks, hoping to get a rooster, but I have had no luck so far. So I am hoping for a brahma rooster, but I'm ok with it if they are both hens.

If you're buying chicks from the feed store, they're sexed pullets. Sure, it's possible to get a roo, but not likely.

If you keep an eye on Craigslist & your regional poultry groups on Facebook, you'll find all kinds of people rehoming roosters now & in the coming months.

Because the weather is warm now, online hatcheries have low order minimums. You may be able to order just 2-3 make chicks from places like cackle hatchery, McMurray, etc.

All the chicks in (my) Hatchery, and a few others are sold out for much of the future. But if I definitely have two pullets I'll be ordering a rooster at some point. They are beautiful chickens.
