Just got home from my Super Walmart. Lots of open shelf space but nothing totally out. Lolol with ONE noticeable exception. The store was completely out of their plastic bags at EVERY register. We use our own cloth bags so my wife was ok but many shoppers were stunned!

Stock up folks. Point is anything could vanish fast and will when it all hits in force.

I was initially going for a one year supply but I have continued beyond that to supplement my freeze dried and dehydrated food with additional wheat, white rice, and various kinds of beans. I buy them in 25 pound sacks. It used to be that we had no idea when doom might arrive and so freeze dried seemed like an intelligent choice. But now I think you’re better off just buying shelf stable food like rice, beans, and canned foods on sale because you will get a lot more food for the money you spent. I don’t think doom is very far in the future anymore. Besides, canned food is good for years past its expiration date.

Also, remember to buy things like charcoal filter replacements for your water filter systems, and medical supplies that you can obtain over the counter. Costco has a two pack of Acetaminophen that is extremely cheap. I have pounds and pounds of baking soda. Make sure you have enough salt, you should have 25 pounds of it. Where are you going to get it when you run out? You can’t live without salt. I also bought several different types of antibiotics from a Veterinarian supply store. Fish antibiotics and bird antibiotics are exactly the same ingredients and formulation and manufacturing process as human antibiotics and in fact may be slightly better. You should look up on a prepper website to find out what three or four main types of antibiotic you should have on hand. Most antibiotics are safe past the pull date but there are some that become toxic after the expiration and you should know the difference. Get a used copy of a physician desk reference book. Go to used bookstores and look online for used books that cover field medicine, emergency medical techniques, what to do when there’s no dentist around, and natural herbal healing remedies.

I have a thumb drive with tons and tons of reference materials on how to fix things how to build things how to repair things, where to plant how to build root cellars, how to preserve foods, how to build a fire without matches, how to deliver a baby, all of that stuff will disappear from your every day Googling ability. I have a laptop and a solar charger to charge the battery so that even if the grid goes down, in theory I can still use my laptop for reference material. I have hundreds of books that I bought at the dollar bookstore over the past 10 years including atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, medical reference books, history of the world, history of western civilization, history of the United States, how to grow crops, how to preserve foods, textbooks for children of all ages, novels, Bibles, hymn books, cookbooks, canning instruction books, a 1960s edition of the great books of the western world series. If I die in the next couple of years, I fully expect someone else will make good use of all my preps. Also buy used children’s clothing in all various sizes and including boots for winter and work boots for kids, sturdy shoes that will last and can be passed down through the years. Make sure everybody has a set of sturdy, durable winter clothes. I have parkas and boots for men and women who may show up in my northern climate. If I want them to be able to go out and cut wood they’re going to need to be dressed for it, and many people will be fleeing from the city with the clothes on their back. It’s also a good idea to have non-electric, old-fashioned tools.
