I'm also not a Dr nor a Physician but I fully support and agree with this. I am however an on and off smoker and usually only get sick during or just after I quit smoking. I attribute it to that exact reason. In fact, the years when I dont smoke, I have more lung infections than when I do smoke cigs.

As a side note, I discovered with (what was almost chronic) bronchitis, I smoke cigs and the green to both clear out the lungs and keep the coughing down. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Nicotine or the chemicals in cigarrettes temporarily paralyzes the cilia or lung hairs while weed smoke activates them and thats why green smokers cough more - because the smoke actually makes you cough (mind you, most smoke in the lungs should cause that). So with any upper lung infection, I'll step outside and burn a 1/3 of one, cough like a mofo on purpose and then have a smoke to calm the lungs down. Sounds hiliariously backwards.

I'm not implying let alone stating either cures bronchitis or lung infections. Just helps cope with the phelgm production and deep coughs and yes I do use antibiotics for serious lung infections.

I'd quit smoking cig years ago, but when reports came in from China that smokers were unaffected by the virus, I got myself a pipe and tobacco and started smoking again and upped my vitamin C levels to as much as I could take. So far, so good.

Pipe tobacco because cigs are f*cking expensive now.

There is already pukka research to confirm this from France, UK, US, Italy, can't remember where else.

I read the first couple of papers (PubMed). Apparently the virus gets in via ACE2 receptors on the lung surface. Something in the smoke blocks these receptors up and stops the bug getting in.

I think I might have had Covid last week. Bloody weird bug it was whatever, not pleasant. Anyway, I just kept knocking back the zinc tabs and smoked as much as I could.

It's over 10 days now and I'm just about back to usual

vitamin b3(niacin) and nicotine are intertwined chemically. compare the molecular structures side by side..

they both use the bodies natural nicotinic receptors...

small amounts of nicotine work with metabolites of b3

most people are vitamin b3 deficient..

I would advise anyone to smoke cigarettes. I did for 17 years--I suspect those are worse now than ever.

I do smoke cigars--one or two per day. I also always have some Red Man tobacco close at hand at all times.

I am almost 65 and perfectly healthy. I have been very healthy my whole life. I did have five serious flu illness and pneumonia once. 20 to 25 years ago--five years in a row with the bug obviously coming from Chicoms. After the fifth time, I seemed to gain immunity from the dirty little buggers.

I doubt you know anyone that actually has the virus. Get your tobacco--and fast.

Reminds me, I read a paper about 5 years ago that said that people with Parkinsons are invariably non-smokers as are people with Celiac.

They give nicotine tabs to stroke patients, it helps their brains recover.

Makes you wonder. What other diseases does nicotine fight/cure?

Tobacco companies add bronchodialators to cigs for that reason, to make it easier to smoke and inhale deeper thus more nicotine absorption. Look into it.
