Half of yall are just plan stupid - no the ACA and or obama care only covered certain pre existing conditions at a higher premium - what T dude did is amazing - anyone that cant see that or argues against it must be in a field that profits from it. So let me ask - I list my job due to covid - I have VA health care due to an illness IO got on active duty - so what if one day I get cancer or who knows what - private insurance as of now wont cover shit - at least the VA will attempt to touch it ya it costs me but not the next months rent. Its giving peeps an option in a form. SHit how bad is that?

A LONG time ago, insurance wa sset up to spread risk across a community and so people got treatment at a fairly low cost by comparison.

Then unscrupulous insurance companies got the bright idea to sell cheaper insurance based on actuary science for say a young nonsmoking 24 year old man. So he got cheaper rates, and screwed everyone else.

But also, they didn't WASTE money on hopeless cases just pouring money down a drain either.

...

The only difference is the 'government' isn't forcing anyone to YOU to buy insurance, but the increasing rates remain because the government is forcing the insurance companies to cover everyone - which means, YOU pay more for the government still doing what you claim it isn't. Namely, forcing everyone to pay more for insurance.

The only win Trump has made is to kill the mandate, which allows for those with the means to take care of themselves and their health needs as they see fit. This is a very small percentage of the population. For the majority, they're still fucked. So, maybe that's a win - depending on who you are...

Trump is fixing your fuck up, you whiny bitch.

People like you sat on your asses, let the country go to shit, then are pissed Trump stepped up to fix your fuck ups.

Eat shit, anarchist. Start your fucking Turner diary revolution if you got the balls. I'll be on the other side of that revolution. I can't wait to see fucks like you hanging from street lamps.

Motherfucker.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79240205

You're vaccinated. You'll be dead within the decade. That's the revolution. Son.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54576120

The vaccination is optional thanks to Trump. I ain't your "son," you high school educated retard. How about fuck you, Bircher. Die you fat, stupid mf.

ACA mandate gone, but a few states still require coverage [link to medicalxpress.com (secure)]

"The theory behind the mandate is that it buttresses protections for people with pre-existing conditions," said Stan Dorn, director of the National Center for Coverage Innovation at Families USA, a health care advocacy group. "Without an individual mandate, the concern is that healthy people can wait until they get sick before they sign up for coverage since insurance companies are now legally required to sell insurance to people with pre-existing conditions."

The individual mandate was among the more unpopular aspects of the law known as "Obamacare." Critics said forcing people to buy health coverage violated personal liberties and imposed financial hardships on individuals who cannot afford the cost of insurance. [link to medicalxpress.com (secure)]

Can we have some real numbers please?

I am aged sixty years and my monthly insurance premium is $170 to cover myself and my wife.

I already posted near the beginning of the thread that I just picked up about $7,500 in prescriptions and my cost was $0.00 USD.

I've worked for the .gov for five decades [yes we lied on the work permits in the early 1970's] and I truly have no idea what health insurance costs the American people that pay my salary.

What do you pay for healthcare?

And at what 'hidden cost'?

I needed to provide a DNA sample years ago to establish 'who or what I am'. Does anyone else need to do this?

Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country,
don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy.

Did Donald Trump Repeal Obamacare? 44 Percent of Republicans Believe He Did
BY CHRISTINA ZHAO ON 12/28/17 AT 5:36 AM EST [link to www.newsweek.com (secure)]

Based on the fact that the very unfair and unpopular Individual Mandate has been terminated as part of our Tax Cut Bill, which essentially Repeals (over time) ObamaCare, the Democrats & Republicans will eventually come together and develop a great new HealthCare plan!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 26, 2017 [link to www.newsweek.com (secure)]

Looks like Trump is on the up and up.

Reading some of the spin on the articles, however, would make you believe Trump says things other than what he said, leaving a lot up to Democratic speculation.

I go to the doctor as little as possible and less than that. I like it that way.

Health Care has taken on a draconian aspect over the years.

I don't like my personal business in the hands of other people, including doctors, and that includes my health.

When I do see one, I let them know, that I am the boss of me and I tell my doctor what is what, not the other way around. I am looking for advice and opinion, not directives.

Biggest thing I am opposed too, is them having so much personal info. I just don't like that. It makes me feel violated.

Were I to find myself in the ER and unsure of why, I would make an allowance, but otherwise, I try to avoid going in at all cost. I mean, I could have cancer and never know it, because I don't care to get it checked out. If for example I do, then so be it.

I plan on living until I am dead and don't need more stress on top of it pushing me there sooner, nor am I trying to live forever.

Just my opinion.

Bravo!

I also do not let my doctor tell me what to do, I see him as needed and every three or four months for a check up--I'm almost always just fine.

What most bothered my wife and I was when we were at separate times admitted to the Regional Medical Center--the wrist bands they placed on us had our photographs on them.

At no time had we paused to have our pictures taken there.

I still have no idea where those photos of us came from as there is no camera at the triage desk in the E.R. but they were clearly our photos on our wrist bands.

As for how long I plan to live; until I die may be the best answer given here, any further explanation would be off-topic.
