Next to impossible to get ahead when everything is taxed so heavily. Health care is joke, particularly during this so called “pandemic”. I’m terrified to send my kids back to school under emergency orders which basically means they can do whatever they want with no accountability. All I want to do is pack up my family and move to another country but frankly I don’t know where is better. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78035237 I feel the same way in America. |

We're even selling hydroelectricity to the USA for ~7 cents/kwh while selling it to Canadians for 10+ cents/kwh. Every societal institution is broken. None of them actually serve their proclaimed intended purpose. It is full societal collapse. |

But those rent prices he stated are not a canada wide problem. Im in british columbia and im at 15k a year on my mortgage my brother pays 800 month rent in an apartment. "30-40 k per year is an average for a small apartment anywhere in Canada now." yeah ok.... |

You must be in either bumfucknidaho bc or you're lying.shithole bachelor's are renting for close to 2000 100 kms from major urban areas. I know places where people are paying 9000 a month to rent a substandard house, in a kind of crappy town, namely meaford.Just because it is on Georgian bay. There is a real estate nightmare in Canada due to all the reits, lax foreign investment regulations on owning property and chinese money. Dont believe me, look at commie style condos popping up everywhere.Pure 1950s moscow type housing. |

Still planning on emigrating to Ukraine. |

There, I just solved all of your problems, tards. Do all of that and I'm sure Canada will go back to normal. It's not ''socialism'', tards. Time to start getting serious and call a spade a spade. |

We have *some* money, enough I assume to start over in another country. It’s something I think about a lot. We have three, soon to be four kids and if I knew where to go I would pack us up. But it’s hard bc it feels like all it takes is a few bad governments and everything starts sliding down hill. |

The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence. Where-ever you are stay put and hunker down and make the best of the horrible circumstances you find yourself in. The nightmare is just beginning. Now is not the time to plan a move. |

Our country is super fucked. The land is beautiful, untapped resources all around but the government stifles industry and private development beyond normal.. Liberals have fucked this country into the ground.. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76195662 Canada 08/14/2020 08:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Although the present government in Canada is being marginally led by the Liberals under Justin Trudeau, Canada's past and its present economic status was largely affected by past right wing Conservative governments led by the likes of Brian Mulroney ( he with the %50,000 in a brown manila envelope) and Stephen Harper. So calling Canada a socialist nightmare can be equally blamed on both the left wing Liberals and the right wing Conservatives. The numbers cited in the OP -ed are way out of whack. And if they are right for a few cases they are obviously the result of money gouging profiteers, the total opposite of socialist welfare. The problem is our conservative government is too liberal.. Harper gave us back some gun rights to restricted firearms like handguns which was nice. I don't fully blame them for the economy. I honestly think the queen of England has told the Canadian government (no matter who is in power) not to let industry ruin the pristine country. Like they were told 90% of the land couldn't be mined or tapped for resources. We should be living like Kuwaities where everyone gets a paycheck every year because the country is so oil rich.. We're not only oil rich but every other god damn resource rich too.. They have mountains of untapped rare earth metals they won't even explore.. This country is so fucked and they are letting in immigrants from the middle east by the millions |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 6349919 Canada 08/14/2020 08:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Rent is high everywhere. You can see online classified ads. Everytime they bump the minimum wage the rent and utilities go up the same next month. Health care sucks everywhere too. Too many workers believe the tv and think they are God's among us and should get all benefits and sit at a desk where their only task is to tell everyone else,"that's not my job". |
