Tropical Storm Sally could bring ‘dangerous, potentially historic’ flooding to Alabama, 30" +

Just west of Dothan on the Choctawhatchee River. Between Newton & Clayhatchee. Rivers already up 15 feet, USGS says it will crest about 35 feet by tomorrow morning. The Big 3 Floods right here were 1929-42ft, 1990-40ft, 1994-37ft.
Jan'17 it flooded and got under my house, that was 25ft. I raised the house another 5 feet but I think I should have raised it 10. Already moved both trucks, car and tractor to higher ground at a neighbor's, but there's nothing to be done about the house at this late time.
I do have the John boat tired up to the back deck so we don't have to swim out of here tomorrow. Hoping to God that USGS has their heads up their asses on this one and that the flooding isn't as bad as they predict.

My buddy is tough as nails but they have been through a lot of storm mess the past couple years. I am down around the Gainesville area, lucky we only deal with downed trees mostly. But I keep thinking one of these times its bound to be our turn.

I actually considered getting further away, maybe even Alabama myself but I have watched every place else get worse then us these past years so I dunno.

Looks like another wave is gaining strength in off the coast of mexico. Tampico I believe. projected to head north east.

Other than that winds from Sally look tame now.

I saw that wave down in the Bay of Campeche too. The wave train is not ending and it is very exhausting.

When I am not on this forum, I am on my weather forums tracking the waves and losing sleep....LOL.

Navarro beach was my familys favorite place back in the 80s.

Flooding isnt that bad compared to wind.

I was just musing about the weather in general -

Navarre was great in the 80s! We spent many days at that state park that had the board walks over the dunes. Totally flattened as you know in the late 90s I believe.

Yep, I served myself and so I always took an interest in command and control around these things on the civilian side. I notice though we are not hearing anything about all these people out of homes out west or around Louisiana - no shelter footage - nothing.

It would be a very suck time to be homeless due to these events. (It sucks anytime but right now, talk about BOHICA)
