Here is what it says about Seattle in the DOJ memo

Seattle, Washington

For nearly a month, starting in June, the City of Seattle permitted anarchists and activists to seize six square blocks of the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, naming their new enclave the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ) and then the “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” (CHOP).

Law enforcement and fire fighters were precluded from entering the territory. The Seattle Police Department was ordered to abandon their precinct within the CHOP.

Person-related crime in the CHOP increased 525% from the same period of time in the same area the year before, including by Mayor Durkan’s own count “two additional homicides, 6 additional robberies, and 16 additional aggravated assaults (to include 2 additional non-fatal shootings).”

The CHOP was allowed to stand for nearly a month, during which time two teenagers were shot and killed in the zone.
The Seattle City Council, Mayor Durkan, and Washington Governor Jay Inslee publicly rejected federal involvement in law enforcement activities within the city of Seattle.


1. I can say that the creation of the CHOP did happen but when it was gone and the police took over, they enlarged the area that no one could enter and required all citizens to carry proof of residence and they would walk you home if you were on the street or threaten you with jail. As a result delivery trucks could not even deliver goods to businesses which had operated straight through the CHOP time and now no one could even go to those businesses. It was very bad.

2. The police and fire would not enter the territory, not that they were ordered not to enter. Who had the ability to do that? It was BECAUSE there were NO POLICE that other people came to the CHOP with weapons to secure it. We had ex marines and other less trained people with AK15s stopping the constant barrage of Proud Boys coming to commit violence. The Proud Boys are supported by the police. The shooting were gang related because the area became a free for all for gang bullshit. Let me tell you, that area already had gang crap and drug shootings every week.

3. That figure of increased crime in the area from CHOP is absolutely made up. The neighborhoods around this did not like it to be sure but they did not like the police occupation either. Cops are dangerous and frightening here.

Well Mr. or Ms. Antifa, that is really a lot of bullshit. People watched on TV while EMTs and police begged to go into the zone to help gunshot victims. Police at other times were prohibited by the mob from entering the zone also. Others were chased by thugs from the zone.

A few businesses did operate, but many more closed their doors and boarded them up during the occupation.

Every type of degenerate was there from sex offenders, to people who committed murder. And, it drew more of these dregs of society as it was permitted to continue.

It was a riot, an illegal occupation and the city and state government stood by and ordered police to not interfere. That is the reality. It was dismantled only when citizen outcries became a threat to the power of the city council and Mayor.
