Nothing remotely like what’s gone on since January ever happened before in the US.

For the 27th straight week, over one million working-age Americans filed claims for unemployment insurance (UI).

Numbers for the past week include 870,000 who applied for regular state UI, along with another 630,000 applying for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) — the federal program for workers not eligible for UI.

Providing up to 39 weeks of benefits, PUA expires at yearend.

Because most states provide 26 weeks of UI, many unemployed US workers exhausted their benefits.

They’re still eligible for 13 additional weeks of Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) — available only for individuals who got state UI."

We are loosing the strength to even type anymore.
The unemployed are the rioters, the protesters, the quiet, the ones who are loosing their homes, their rental properties, their credit, their hopes, their spirit, their sanity.
Just like in the votes here, around 28%. Not the 8.4% they are lying to us about.

Same here..although I've been working from home since March and company has stated no one needs to return to the office in 2020.

I'm actually on the clock right now..surfin' GLP..and getting paid! I think I'll crack open a beer soon..why not, no one can see me!

Sports related small business. More then half of us still officially furloughed, 25% fired and 25% still trying to keep things open with a skeleton crew. Owner was bringing in his kids to do shipping. Heard it is now a no fun zone to be at if you are there.

Never stopped! Spend all the summer at the office and since this week I am back working from home...I can actually be more productive because I don't have all these people chit-chatting next to me...

Trump ought to give us essential workers a bonus for putting ourselves at risk.

Wrong, most rioters are college (approx) probably never had a job, House, bills, etc. they are paid by sick George to destroy and kill... not really an occupation I am aware of.
Then there are the foreigners, instigators from other states bussed in to start shit.
The ones with families and bills have found work or collecting unemployment, etc....

I know, right? I got my panties all in a bunch when they were talking about giving bonuses to people who went back to work, just so they'd go back to work.....heh, I thought 'What is THIS fuckery?....what about us still working through all this BS!'.....


Pay people extra just to get them to go back to work, my gawd......

All of you with jobs, if you have friends or relatives unemployed, and you have the will and ability, see if they can work with you or if your business would hire them. Sometimes asking a manager if they would hire a friend might help save someone's life.
Reach out and ask how they are doing if willing and able.

Believe me, many are probably down and would love to work again. Offering to help them by watching their kids so they can go out and look for a job or ask if they need anything.
That's of course if you are close or part of a community.
Many, like me are home schooling kids right now while unemployed.

This doesn't apply to those who don't care and don't want to.

The silent unemployed minority are suffering.

We don't know all the protesters.
many are rioting but many are very unemployed.
It doesn't even matter. I don't even care.
people are suffering.
The truth is they are and the situation is dire.
It doesn't seem that way to those who are still working.
There will soon be a very big divide between the employed and the unemployed coming.

Check with temp agencies in your area. They seem to be always hiring and temp jobs can lead to permanent.

Never stopped, have been teleworking at home with kiddos.

My son became unemployed, I was going to try to get him a job with me, but we've gone from over 25 drivers, down to 11....long run drivers, that is. The shutdown hit the business pretty hard. All of us still working are extremely grateful we ARE still working....having seniority and a good work record paid off for me, for sure.


He's doing Door Dash for now, and some days he's even making more money than me....so, I am happy for him. He's not. He's worried for his work future.


These really are hard times, like desperation inducing for some, for our country of people.....

I worked in a tourist gift shop. No tourism in Hawaii anymore so no job. My community has the highest unemployment in the state and Hawaii has the highest unemployment in the country. Only jobs right now are in farming and construction and I’m a bit too old for either. On the up side though, I can retire and get my social security in a year and a half.

2 weeks off to get my preps straight in Apr then back to work....been pretty busy.....

Y’all lazy ass kids just helped me retire early...

I'm retired. I have two sons that have done pretty well that live nearby. I have tried to stress the importance of having a cash cushion to no avail. They live high on the hog, golfing, booze regular vacations with the families.

Just today one got the word his job is coming to an end--LIKE TODAY--job just shutting down--no money. He grossed about 135 a year but I doubt they have a month supply of cash on hand. Sickening.

Yep, never left work actually.

Wow, I make a speck of that and even I have savings and preps for about three months.

But I'm older and was thrust into the position of having to learn to live within my means, and I do. No problem. I don't miss anything.

Never stopped working in fact I’m busier than ever.

I own 3 companies and the only thing that saved me is losers ran out of unemployment and had to come back to work instead of committing fraud against the system. Otherwise I had trouble finding staff.

June, July, and August all record months. I own a trucking company and two restaurants busy busy busy.
