You're quite right... we didn't accomplish much if you consider our generation eventually spawned little asswipes like yourself. Think about it.

I'm now over 70 and retired from government service at 59 [and took a serious hit on my pension by doing so]. Hardly a "loser", as a Haz-Mat Specialist I personally influenced the policies of my agency and left it a safer place for not only other federal employees but also the general public.

Along the way I became a performed playwright and videographer who today holds several copyrights and has works archived in the Library of Congress.

I not only have copies of the Bible, The Egyptian Book of the Dead, the Book of Mormon, the Torah and the Dead Sea scrolls on my bookshelves I've actually read -and more importantly- comprehend them. But, I never bothered with the Koran and don't intend to.

So, blow me. And try not to drool as you do.

I passed the 70 mark last year and am lucky enough to have made it this far with both mind and body intact, if missing a few teeth... I've never even had a regular physician! So, with the passing decades the biggest change I've noticed is my far looser tongue.

Whereas even just 15 years ago I wouldn't speak up about something because it would be considered "rude" today I take no prisoners and do not suffer fools gladly.

And yeah: once in awhile I'll deliberately pick a fight with some young punk just to put them in their place.

The wonderful thing is how EASY it can be!

I was a software engineer myself, worked for all major companies as a contractor. Did system analysis and performance tuning for SGI/Cray when that name used to mean anything.

Spent some time in Silicon Valley during a time it was actually fun to be there. The glory days.

sucks getting old, the mind stays young and each year your body just cant do what you did easy before. and your prone to be a cranky impatient pain ridden old fool.

I had a young couple and their two digs here, then I hurt my back and in my pain and anger, I took it out on them, Told them to get out of my house.

they left and I was so lost because the house was now empty. I cried, actually sat crying. I felt like I had thrown my own kids onto the street, to try and find accommodation that would take them all. I cried, contacted them. Told them that if they can not find anywhere at all, Come back.

Tomorrow they will drop off the two dogs, the place they found neighbors complained about the two big dogs. they are paid of in rent there till Monday.

Being at the stage of getting old, I have found that living alone for me just as I have all my life, I need company and help too.


yes, growing old does not mean you stop learning or can't see the error in your ways. and i'm only 57.
