I hate getting old and seeing the world decay around me

Life is good.

Conditions change. That's part of life.

It's not arrogance, little man... it's called life's lessons learned. If you live long enough you may even have a few more yourself - if your own desultory attitude doesn't prevent it... as it likely will.

You are still a young man, the mirror became old, not you.

Getting old is easier for some than others.

I have health issues, but no money worries. Others have money worries and health issues.

When you live alone, you worry about things you would never think of when younger. As the commercial keeps reminding us, I fell and I can't get up. But it is not just physically falling, it is mentally falling also. The sentences don't roll off the tongue like they use to. You have to write down (or put it in your smart phone) simple things which in the past required no effort to remember.

But, most of all your world gets smaller and smaller. When I was younger, and I am talking in my 50's I moved from the east coast to Alaska and thought the trip beautiful and didn't stress. Today, I awaken with anxiety knowing I have a 50 mile trip to the doctor. My neighbor, who is 81, hasn't driven more then 14 miles from his house in the past year. My mom who is in her 90's hasn't been out of her house in a year.

Getting old sucks.

Old people who lived during World War I and II probably had the same feeling of the world going to pieces around them.

No doubt.

I passed the 70 mark last year and am lucky enough to have made it this far with both mind and body intact, if missing a few teeth... I've never even had a regular physician! So, with the passing decades the biggest change I've noticed is my far looser tongue.

Whereas even just 15 years ago I wouldn't speak up about something because it would be considered "rude" today I take no prisoners and do not suffer fools gladly.

And yeah: once in awhile I'll deliberately pick a fight with some young punk just to put them in their place.

The wonderful thing is how EASY it can be!
