Realize that some old people understand this all too well and so are doing reverse mortgages as they know they will never get a decent offer on their homes. The economy will collapse and there will be such massive unemployment, that no one will be able to afford to buy these homes. Real estate will collapse. It makes more sense to sell real estate in urban areas, relocate to a less expensive rural state, buy a farm homestead, and relocate family there. Invariably, this rural state is far more conservative. At least when the civil comes, your family has a fighting chance and can work the homestead and squeeze by. Pick a defensible one with good water and soil and decent mild seasons with low population density. You won't come out unscathed, but will escape from the bulk of the violence. |
