This happened to my mother, at a Catholic hospital in the Midwestern United States, in December 2019. I think it started becoming a thing under ObamaCare.

I now consider Catholicism a big fraud and murderous.

Just another example of why I prepare to stay far from hospitals, and doctors.

I had a doctor's appointment for a follow up procedure scheduled later this month. My doctor's attitude was much different than any time before and he wouldn't look me in the eye.

Doubt very much I'm going in for it.

Not at all surprised. I was a rabid liberal until I spent 4 months with occupy dc. The final straw being when we held a meeting regarding a rash of thefts of our property. One of the organizers suggested we look at it as involuntary sharing.

The only thing more evil than putting a human down is keeping them artificially alive because your emotions might miss them.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen someone keep a family member alive and suffering because she didn’t want to miss that person.

A curious legal point...

Suppose a patient wants to live, but knows that the doctor is about to kill him, so, at the last moment, he pulls out a Point 50 Desert Eagle and blows the doctor's and nurse's brains out. Would this be legal?

It is straight self-defence.

Nut then what of the doctor's relatives? And his family?

Yep, its heartless, but i doubt its anything new, and probably is an unwritten rule in medical industry.

Palliative care

teams are skilled at these conversations and will do their best to support colleagues in doing so, but there will not be enough capacity for palliative care teams to undertake all conversations themselves.

If possible, defer closure and give time for discussion with relatives, carers, advocates.

If not possible, ‘What thoughts do you have about the best way forward?’

If low confidence/high anxiety, empathy
