The confusion people are having about the harvest (rapture) is that they think the "great tribulation" is some event in the future.

The "great tribulation" has been going on for the last 1900 years, and has intensified with the development of technology.

Look at the Book of Revelation and what it says about those who came out of the great tribulation:

Revelation 7
9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;
10 and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."
11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
12 saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen."
13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?"
14 I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 "For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them.
16 "They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat;

First: They were a great multitude from every tribe, nation, and tongue. They are all the Christians during the the last 2,000 years. There are some nations and tribes from 1,000 years ago that are no longer even on the earth, but they will be resurrected at the last day.

Second: They are holding palm branches. This is just like when Israel received Jesus the first time, but it will be the whole world this time at His return.

Third: They have been persecuted by the world for following Jesus. They were deprived many things for holding to the faith and went hungry, cast out of communities, enduring hardship for the testimony they have held.

This is what Christianity has endured for most of the last 2,000 years. Yes, today is pretty comfy, but that is only because the persecution has gone covert. True Christians are still quite troubled for their faith today.

And where to start? Meaning which book of the bible.

I am a believer, but I know I need to do better and follow the true gospel. I've been pretty shit. And I think I need to start with understanding his true word myself.
