The Have's and the HAVE-NOTS

The Have-nots will take until the HAVES have no more.

Family and students are in revolt over the education system. It does not meet their needs nor builds strategies for them to succeed. In a way lack of success is rewarded as well.

On the other hand too, you also have to deal with the gene pool of that which is. Many schools are not helpful to black students in particular because if they tested them for special education services, too many come back qualifying for special education. And, that makes the system look racist.

And some don't qualify at all. They could be struggling to learn, but if the testing show they are low average IQ between 72 and 90 then special education is not going to help them anyways. They will always be low. Special education is for students that can achieve with extra help and strategies. Not low average students.

My issue is that low average students are still pushed in with a full load in a class room setting. Low average students are learning slowly and are much more easily distracted. They really need a lot more attention in small groups with classroom aids as well to keep them on task so everything that can be squeezed out of them to function at their best can be achieved. But, that is basically special education and it is expensive.

Currently, special education is only funded at 4%, which really only covers administrative cost. Schools do not want to diagnosed students that might be transient or just maintaining at two grade levels below, and often times they will adjust numbers when students are struggling below two grade levels , just to not diagnose them. There simply isn't any money to help them anyways.

It is a problem as well, because the lowest MOS job description in the military requires an IQ of 83. Plus with that 83+ IQ the recruit still has to be able to maintain their attention for an 8 hour day. Which gets hard for people under and IQ of 85. A full time job for a person with an IQ below 85 is intellectually exhausting, because they do not have the ability to stay focus for long periods of time or pay careful attention to task. Further, they are not likely to move up nor be promoted in any profession. They are basically a permanent underclass unless, they have a splinter skill in the arts or athletics, that can be groomed to the professional level. And, that is extremely rare.

Some people are just always going to need public assistance just to exist more fairly in society. In the mean time, schools need to come up with a way to meet these kids needs without appearing like they have given up on these students. Although, ideally we would ignore race (leave as interesting data only) and just fund whatever students need to succeed.

I remember this guy getting booed out of colleges and universities as an invited speaker about his book. Some people can't handle the truth.

i guess so. they don't really "get" anything, they just all get passed on to the next grade. i know of one sixth grader last year that couldn't even read yet and was in the "normal" classes, not the tard classes.

Biology was not fair to them. It is not their fault for having a low normative IQ's and learning problems. poor schools do not help. The school system is afraid to appear racist or ID them for Special Education. Not that it would help with so many school programs underfunded to deal with Special education students, and those with low normative IQ's. They are firing on all thrusters, even if they are weak thrusters. The school system is not well funded enough to educate low normative students more thoroughly, so they can be more successful in society. And, it is uncertain if it would make much of a difference anyways, since many have trouble maintaining employment for a full 8 hour workday. I think think extra attention and social training would though in just instilling a better work ethics, attitudes toward work.

Black people have high rates of dyslexia too. Some are just low normative and are just slow intellectually, but socially appear normative. So people over estimate their abilities. If they can just read enough to follow direction that is helpful in having a simple job.

Some people need a lot more attention in school. But, schools are terribly underfunded in special education and do little next to nothing other than monitoring when students have a low normative IQ. Instilling concienciousnoius would do many of these low normative IQ people a huge favor in helping to contribute to them being successful. But, it takes a lot of attention and support to get that result. The schools simply are not funded for it.

There are other things that contribute to success than just IQ. Concienciousnoius is a big one. Few people can be super successful without it. this is a skill that can be taught, yet we seldom nurture this much in education anymore.

if there's limited money (really? billions being spent, as indicated here), one strategy would be to allocate a greater amount disproportionately to the earlier grades (below the age of 12 or 13) to try jump-starting them with learning skills. Their mothers likely never practised neonatal health, the vocabularies at home won't help, and as others state accurately, their urban environment mitigates against success. They have to want to succeed.
