Quoting: Anonymous Coward 353383prayers are welcomed, thank you a god bless us all. ok, you never answered if your friend had travelled.....it could also be a virus or phage...virus seems unlikely, as they must have done testing for infection....but the symptoms do sound like hanta-virus, or plague....where does your friend live, and what kind of work does he do? |

archangelhelper, User ID: 251148 United States 01/10/2008 09:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has he gotten a second opinion? My brother got diagnosed with a brain legion about 10 years ago. One doctor told him to get his affairs in order, this would probably kill him. The second doctor told him, we don`t know what its going to do. It might grow and it might stay the same. It has never changed. He is alive and well after all this time. The legion is the same as it was 10 years ago. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 303465 United States 01/10/2008 10:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry if this sounds gross. But in Thailand doctors have recently discovered (damn if I know why? ) that people who (sorry) get semen up into their nasel cavity ( which is the thinest local membrane through the blood-brain barrier system ), (how that could happen who the hell knows ); But anyway; they discovered that actual brain tissue attachtment of some kind happen and the patient inncurrs a DNA displacement of sort and resulting in ;,,, well brain kinda lesions or infections of a wiered type. I know; yuck!!! But I hope your friend can overcome this! Try looking to the Thai Government sites on this. The western medical sites are totally mum on this for some reason. |

User ID: 241016 United States 01/10/2008 10:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wait, they have no idea and have exhausted all tests, or is HMO Big Brother standing in the way of more opinions and specialists? I would not dare to diagnose nor prescribe anything at this time, the information you gave is very limited. We require tests, pictures and some idea of his history. We need to know if he has been over seas, what all of the symptoms - not just a few - are, we need to know the order of those symptoms, then we need to rule out various possibilities. We do not even know if he is suffering from one condition or two or three all inter related. Swollen testes can be caused from several viruses, several parasites, and "many" other conditions, from prostate issues to glandular issues too blood issues - beyond infection. Loss of appetite could play a roll, or could be just a sign that he is not "feeling well" in general. Some patients who are not feeling well, for instance are in pain, have reduced appetite, this is not a symptom, it is a side effect of how the patient reacts to pain. Have they done a spinal tab for fluid to check for common infections/viral and bacterial? Have they biopsied the testicles/prostate? What kind of blood tests did they do? Hemoglobin count, T-cell count? Liver panel? What were the results? Some common causes of brain lesions are: stroke, aneurysm, tumors, MS, abscess, meningitis. There are many others. Migraines can bring them on, wearing too tight of underwear can cause headaches which can progress too migraines which can cause brain lesions (A very rare case which was one for the record books dealing with circulation issues which caused issues even though the circulation was cut off far from the brain) To top it all of, they are not always lethal - unless we know the cause we can not say if this is just a one time thing or if there will be more lesions or more brain damage that could lead to death. So without a clearer diagnosis I can not even begin to suggest therapy. There are way too many factors at play, and any and all of the suggestions given thus far could make the problem worse could become the straw to break the camels back and kill the man. I strongly urge two more doctors opinions. The man has been given a terminal prognosis, he is entitled to 3 opinions due to the severity of the prognosis.
