It’s been a long time since I came to my theory so my reasons are sketchy but i remember investigators finding ash trays and cigarette butts near most, if not all cases. My theory is something they ate or otherwise got into their systems had a low chance to become flammable. If the conditions were right it would make them a human gas can and if they smoked the head could cause their insides to smolder. At first it would feel like intense stomach pain and then as their bodies went into shock they wouldn’t feel anything as they slowly melted away. My theory was way more advanced and I think I had a rough idea of what was making people flammable but this was the late 80s and my memory can’t recall what it was. There is some cooking oils back in the 80s that we were finding traces of in people's blood. The oil instead was highly flamable but I was never able to connect the dots with this. It could have been this though since this type of oil was phased out with new kinds and we don’t see spontaneous combustion nearly as often as we did in the 70s and 80s.

Two family members of mine, entirely different generations, have been the only two to need it, and each had their appendix removed (already ruptured), and the older person is very health conscious, eats very healthy (not vegetarian). This all in the last 2 years.

I lived in an apt 2 houses away from her residence in 1990. Friends and I were in our early 20s and most of the folks we knew lived a bohemian lifestyle. To be fair, they smoke real, pure tobacco, not the chemical cocktail the tobacco industry started to churn out some decades ago.

An old school friend who has been in the fire service for 25 years now told me a story I will never forget.

They got called out to a house fire, when they arrived and kicked down the door they discovered an old man dead, sat in an armchair in the middle of a room half burnt, my friend said the really strange thing was the old man was a hoarder, the room was full of junk, with stacks of magazines and old newspapers all around him, apart from some burnt material on the seat he was in and some dark marks on the ceiling above him nothing else was effected. The fire was already out when they arrived. When I asked how burnt was he he said he will never forget, one arm, and half his face completly burnt.

I had a neighbor who said it happened to his wife.
She was dead when I met him but it didn't kill her.
They were on a beach and she was tanning and started burning and ended up losing both legs.
I think he said he suspected it was caused by chemotherapy,
but it's been a while since he told me.
Other neighbors said he used to carry her around, piggy-back.
He could have been lying though, as he was known to tell a lot of crazy stories, like the time he caught a bullet in his teeth, among other things.
