I'm in Florida; A free living Rooster crows at 4 am every day for 2 hours
How do you live like this? Now I'm up every day at 4am, so I had to start going to sleep at 10 pm. It's a really loud rooster as well.

I took a walk and found out the bird lives free range. They don't put it in a chicken house at night. That muffs the sounds for neighbors.

If I bought a home then found out my neighbors allowed roosters to crow outside at 4 am I'd be so pissed off.

I once owned a home for a few months. When I attempted to move in, a hunter showed up in my backyard one morning. I was so afraid I had to leave the house and sell it.

Roosters crow? Should they instead just throw the rooster as in chick in grinders to avoid inconvenience? Being a farmer and hunter myself I can also say if you see a hunter on your property you can tell them they can't hunt there. They may have been hunting there for years and not known that you didn't want them there especially if you just moved in. Hunters will not just shoot you for telling them to hunt somewhere else.

3 obvious options:

1 Hire a gunslinger

2 Set up a trap with dynamite/rocket/anwil dangling above the "free bird seed" sign.

3 Move again

Re: I'm in Florida; A free living Rooster crows at 4 am every day for 2 hours
neighbors had one in their backyard which was next to our bedroom window...gawd almighty.

they crow all day all night, and especially in early morning.
there is not a time when they dont crow.
i hated it and left the place eventually.

if it had been on the OTHER side of their house, crowing at THOSE neighbors it would have been easier to handle.

their sounds are PIERCING. if you are close enough.

Re: I'm in Florida; A free living Rooster crows at 4 am every day for 2 hours
im rural here in Central Florida and so many people have chickens and pigs and farm animals.

one day i was sitting outside, just enjoying the bird songs from the trees when i realized what else i was hearing...

it was like a giant circle in which each rooster would crow his fool head off, and they were literally taking turns.
i listened to the path the crowing was taking.
i could hear far off roosters crowing their turns and they finally made their way back to my street and the crowing circle started all over again.

it was fascinating to me becuase normally i filter out those background sounds but this time i really listened to them.

i learned there are MANY more roosters in my area than i originally thought.way more.

I am in central Florida, and we have a couple of homes with roosters, in a small city type thing. Sometimes they start at 2 am. The Code Enforcement will do nothing due to them being on private property. I downloaded a "white noise" program from the play store and that cancels them out.

My chickens are about 25 feet from my bedroom window. I do not find them that loud at all. I can easily sleep through their crows. Perhaps you just need to get use to it.

There is not much you can do about a rooster crowing. They crow even in coops too. In complete darkness for days on end. They have built in internal clock that still baffles scientist. We don't know why they crow at 4 or 5 AM.

There are "No crowing" collars that look like velcro cable ties. YOU TUBE It. But the birds are only supposed to wear no more than 12 hours a day. So, you put it on them at night and in the morning when most the crowing is should take place you take it off.

The best advice I have for you is to put a fan or something that creates white noise in your room to help cancel the noise.

That is the best way to live.
Animals are more in tune with nature.
Apparently, the body's endocrine system and most internal organs go into sleep mode after 10. There's a risk of stressing the organs and adrenal fatigue for consistently staying up late.

LOL! You probably would hate Kauai then. There are wild chickens EVERYWHERE and they crow all day and night. You’re surrounded by them from the moment you exit the airport (have even seen them wandering through the baggage claim area). We’ve got a flock of at least 20 that hang out in our yard. 12 of them are outside right now begging for scraps. Little buggers are slick at sneaking in the house and stealing the cat’s food when we leave the door open.

Just do a YouTube search for “Kauai chickens”.chuckle
