That sounds plausible. I think the missing puzzle piece has more to do with geologic constraints on our ability to bring liquid fuel to market profitably. That is curtains for most of a first world lifestyle / lifespan. There is a hundreds of billions of dollars deficit in new exploration and production. I think it's $300-500billion. There's a reason for that. Look at the disaster fracking has turned out to be (as an industry). What really knocks my socks off is people who cheer that number. "Go green" and all that. Technology is not energy. Tech requires energy. Electrons will NEVER replace hydrocarbons in terms of their portability, convenience, and cost (less and less so recently). Energy density, and energy returned on energy invested are real concepts that you can't print your way around.

I think they see, as you correctly say "the fast falling dominoes" and are encouraging humanity to stand with our backs to a domino. So the resource constraints will ease, and there might be a fossil fuel lifestyle for their (international bankers) grandkids. I hate to bring up population control, but I'm pretty sure that's what at least some of the drama lately has to do with. Who's the guilty party? I don't know. I DO know it's way above my pay grade.

I think that the covid agenda is being driven by the perceived reality that resources will increasingly be more and more expensive/expensive-to-extract in the future.

Not ENOUGH resources (for them) to go around soon..

The oasis in the desert is fast-shrinking by the day ... and the heavy/heaviest-users are worried abut their own lifestyles and their access to those resources being threatened by a supply-shortage and a concurrent/likewise ever-increasing DEMAND.
