Customers FURIOUS After DoorDash/UberEATS/Grubhub Employees Stop Delivering to Customers Who Don't Tip in Advance, Goes Viral

This is no longer about “good service gets a good tip”- there is nowhere within this delivery format that allows the ‘driver’ to do something above and beyond to earn a larger tip. The food is done by the restaurant, the delivery time depends on time of day, distance of restaurant etc, then there’s the part that most self-entitled fuck bags miss- these people are driving their own vehicles, paying for their own gas and maintenance and you want to bitch about “do a better job and get a better tip”. Keep your dog inside, leave a light on so your address can be seen, quit lying to the service company about missing items, when the order check is done by the restaurant, not the driver. They can’t open your order- if something is wrong, it’s the restaurants fault, not the driver.

Plus- if you can’t afford to tip, then don’t order for delivery. It’s a service, not a right.

imagine how much this is hurting the already hurting food industry....who pays the business for all the food that wasnt picked up? We have several places in town who wont work with these delivery services. The services try to work around this by having the driver call in the order and go pick it up like a customer but since its a repetition of the order called into somewhere else alot of times its wrong. The customer then calls the bar and says their food is all wrong and the bar is like you never called here. etc.....Fuck these gig jobs. they have no responsibility to anyone and their quality shows it. I let my coworker talk me into it one time. I ordered a texas burger w/fries. I got carrots with ranch and a piece of garlic toast.....WTF would pay a delivery charge to order that? Some fucking vegan probably, would like to see the look on their face when they opened up the 1/2 lb burger with bacon.....

I can understand not having the money....but why not just go pick up the food then?
Like sitting at the bar all day and drinking up your last $ and not leaving a tip....drink at home loser.
If you cant afford what is customary then dont use the custom.
I never use delivery, always carry out. If I cant go pick it up Ill just cook. Not paying a delivery fee and a tip for something I can easily do myself.
I cant walk into the kitchen at the Outback place my order , watch them cook it and bring it back to my seat....so I tip my server. If there are no problems they get 20 to 30%....If they are nice to my kid who likes to talk maybe a little more.

Some of us do and this is a complete no issue to us.

Why do random repairs? Because things randomly break.

Have you really ever owned a car before? A lot of parts work perfectly fine until the moment they break.

Alternators work great until your battery suddenly dies driving down the road. Sensors work until they don’t. You can break a number of things just hitting an unexpected pothole. Your car parts don’t break on a schedule.

I see you’re also someone who speaks from experience and actually gets how things work.

Entitled fuck customers will screech about their order being 2 minutes late when the driver has to sometimes wait 20-30 mins just to pick up the order and they’ll give you low ratings and cry to the customer service Indians about getting a refund.

The problem also falls on the business owners not paying employees a living wage so they struggle to hire people. More people are refusing to do these jobs for pennies and are seeking higher wage jobs or becoming self employed. Less employees means during rush hours it takes longer to fulfill everyone’s order.

I call out customers at least once every couple weeks about “missing items”. If it’s in a plastic bag I double knot it tight in the restaurant directly under the security cameras before I even walk out the door. Paper bag orders I make sure they’re either stapled or sealed with anti tamper stickers.

Drivers cannot rummage through food bags to make sure everything is there. It’s not my job to do that, it’s the restaurant’s job.

Try to make a claim that I “tampered with your food” or “missing items” and I’ll prove you wrong and get you blacklisted from the app for attempting to pull a scam.

Drivers are monitored live on gps at all times and there’s cameras in every restaurant. If I stop for 5 mins along the way to get gas, I get a notification on the app saying I’m not heading towards the destination. You can’t even make claim that I took my sweet ass time delivering it to you because the app logs the time I confirmed pickup and it sees where I’m at on gps.

When I drop the order off at your door, I take a pic of the sealed bags at your door.

I would not trust any entitled POS from this generation to bring me anything.
These lazy fucks are the ones who still live with parents and complain when asked to do the dishes. At 30 years old.

I put my time in, years ago, as a restaurant/bar worker making tips.

And back in the 80's and 90's, we really worked hard. Back then, "the customer is always right" was still a thing. And we busted our ass to make that customer happy.

We almost never eat out now, in fact it's been at least a year. But back before covid and when the whole covid machine was gearing up - I rarely felt like anybody deserved a tip. You can have the whole debate about whether the employer should pay them a higher wage, as opposed to having the customer subsidize them...but the young people in 2019, for example, simply weren't putting out the same effort.

There are many reasons I don't eat out anymore. So, it's a non issue for me at this point. But when I was driving across the country a year ago and depending on TOGO restaurant food, every single order was fucked up. Sometimes, an entire entree was missing. They bag it up, I pick it up, and they expect a tip. For what? Providing the food I paid for? You didn't wait on a my table, provide restaurant ambiance, server ambiance, or check if I needed omre water, etc....You put a bag together that usually was missing a key item or you got the order wrong, or you forgot the side sauces, or the plasticware....

Ok, I'll stop ranting now.

And while I'd usually do the "pick up" thing at a nearby restaurant while on the road, I once had the "Uber Eats" or whatever guy deliver it to my hotel....the order was totally fucked up and he was no help, he just gave me some corporate number to call..

Why are you ordering off the apps if it’s a BS industry? If you wanna stick it to them then stop using them and pick it up yourself.

No one has to deliver to you. The apps don’t give a shit if anyone picks up your food. They don’t care what their acceptance rate is. The only thing that matters is if the order is accepted by the driver then they are obligated to deliver it and it not be tampered with. If an emergency comes up then they can cancel the order. Driver ratings are reset every 100 deliveries. They have to maintain at least a 70% completion rate to not get kicked off the app. That means I can drop 30 out of every 100 orders if I have to wait too long or I just change my mind about delivering it to you for any reason.

It seems to be a recurring argument on these threads that overhead costs don’t matter and I don’t have a right to earn a living above overhead costs. No one is going to deliver to you for free. You’re paying for a service. Don’t wanna pay for it, don’t order. Your food being delivered is a privilege, not a right. Drivers are contractors, not employees.

Pizza places and Jimmy Johns have to deliver every order because they are employees to the company. But guess what, if you have a history of not tipping, the restaurant can black ball you from getting delivery service.

I had a technical career, but my real love was gourmet cooking, restaurants and being a "Foodie" (no, I'm not fat). I just loved that culture. I once wanted to have my own restaurant.

Now, sadly, I don't really trust anybody to prepare and/or deliver my food. Like I said, they usually get it wrong and it's very expensive compared to making it yourself, buying in bulk, etc....in our "new normal" I quit my job and buy bulk rice.

You don't hear about this often, but what happened to the restaurant and movie industry? They were squashed. People were trained to not go out. That's not good for a healthy society.

How prompt is your service when every delivery driver in the area rejects your order request because they don’t wanna drive 20 miles to your house and 20 miles back for $2.25? They literally can’t afford to drive to you. It cost them 2 gallons of gas to deliver to you and you aren’t even paying for one gallon.

Every business needs a profit margin. Aka “no tip, no trip”. That’s capitalism summed up. Are a lot of you saying you prefer communism? You don’t get free delivery.

Also to the guy saying “Hurr durr get a real job”. Would you say that to a trucker who delivers food to your local grocery store? The app drivers are doing the same job. The only difference is instead of going to your grocery store to pick it up, it’s getting conveniently delivered ready to eat to your home address.

I tip in cash and type that into the "Delivery Instructions" so hopefully they don't spit in my food or take too long.

I RARELY order delivery. I tipped $10 Saturday night because I was prepping for Easter and my kitchen was spotless and I didn't want to muck it up.

There was this one really, fat lady (I mean she was obese), probably about 40 years old. Would make a point to tell me to put extra mayo on her sandwich. But I digress..

Um, I think you should probably consider something a little more stable, a little more substantial, than that gig. At some point. Have you considered a career? Anyways, you have to realize that the era of the restaurant culture and tipping is rapidly coming to an end.
