Sure it is always possible that it is so bad that billions die in one year.

But it is more likely that it won’t be so bad.

And if it is going to be apocalyptic - well you will probably die anyway no matter how prepared you are.

So why worry?

You really can see the path to what he's saying for Europe. Countries like China have been stockpiling food, to protect their citizens, which leaves Africa vulnerable if supply is disrupted.
If Russia really does stop energy deliveries then the German economy goes down the tubes at the same time hungry refugees are pouring in.
