I just used my visa and it worked fine here in SoFlo.

Banking cards are put out by Visa and Mastercard, they have no credit from companies, it is banks and your banking account. Credit cards are a good bit different. Yet, they will still stop if these others stop. I carry either money to cover or checks I can write the amount.

Was in meijer tonight, again, and can confirm that they were not able to run card transactions as debit. Credit was fine.

Just got home from Meijer. Not able to run EBT, DEBIT or WIC, but can run VISA and MC just fine. Cash still worked fine.

Confirmed in IL this evening as well. I was at Meijer and all of the sudden cards were not processing, I was literally in the self checkout when it went down. They tried to make everyone get in the customer service line with grocery carts and groceries) to finish their transactions.....people were pissed. Craziest thing I've ever seen at a grocery store!

That happened a couple of weeks ago when I was in Marysville. All of the card machines were down throughout the town. Fortunately the ATM at the gas station worked.
Which I thought was strange, since the card machines where down. I usually carry a couple 50's for such occasions.

I've been to a few stores in the last 6 months that were accepting cards only. They said they couldn't make change. Sometimes half the self checkout are cards only.
That's why I always carry enough cash to get through the day.

Omg - yeah traveling through PNW - USE DEBIT (only workaround I figured) otherwise I'd be outa ga$ and $h1t outa luck. Btw - saw a licence on I5 said GLP - (I couldn't read rest of it...)
