“Two runners collapsed and died near the finish lines of half-marathons Sunday, and a third runner collapsed and had to be resuscitated immediately after completing the New York City Half.

After finishing the Shamrock Half-Marathon in Virginia Beach, 16-year-old Cameron Gallagher was treated at an aid tent and taken to a nearby hospital, where she died of unreleased causes. Gallagher was active in sports, playing softball and swimming on her high school teams, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.

On the same day, a 43-year-old runner collapsed just at the finish line of the New York City half-marathon but was quickly revived with oxygen from an EMT.“
