Identifying the truck and warning that Lopez had ties to San Antonio and the Rio Grade Valley is what allowed police to eventually close in. An investigator and deputy sheriff from Atascosa County, south of San Antonio, spotted the truck on Texas 16 a few miles north of Poteet and matched the license plate to the Leon County alert, said Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward. The Jourdanton Police Chief laid spike strips across the highway, which Lopez drove over, puncturing all of the truck’s tires, Soward said. From there, Soward said Lopez tried to flee but numerous police had begun a dogged pursuit that at one point led Lopez to cut through a field and then back onto Texas 16. As he entered the city limits of Jourdanton, Soward said Lopez “stuck a semi-automatic rifle out the truck’s window and fired shots at pursuing officers, before he drove into a utility pole, lost control and plowed through a chain link fence. Inmate escapes by cutting a hole in the prison bus!!! This goes unnoticed by guards and bus driver. Guards and driver had to be in on his escape. |

They just said they would review their prison transport protocol and they were glad he was dead so he couldnt kill again. Every mistake by police which costs lives is covered up and excuses are made. In all private business there are no excuses. They will be sued and the family must win, although there is little compensation and no replacing the lost family. This fool had broken into the next door neighbors house and was most likely living in the weekend ranch home that the family came to and were all killed at. This home was in the area of the escaped convict and the police failed to do any area search after break in of neighbors home. Police are failing Texas over and over |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80417252 I hate to "victim blame" , but it was pretty foolish of this family to leave firearms there, knowing what's going on Illegals will steal anything that they can -- it's really bad in South Texas, but the media will never report it, and nobody is going to save you, you're on your own Go read articles or watch news. The home where the convict killed the 5 people was NORTH OF HOUSTON, and within the escape area of convict. He then fled to south texas on way to border |

An extremely poor underclass living in cardboard boxes and wreaking havoc. Sure, there are rich people. That is it. Like much of South America. They do not want to achieve. They want to take and many of the newer illegals believe Joe Biden made a promise to them. I do not know when he made that promise or if it was public. They believe they are owed. fuckjoebidentown. |

He most likely used their own firearms to kill them or the neighbor home firearms. He was found with their truck and an ar15 and handgun Use a gun safe, use security cameras. If this family had security system installed with live ip cameras they would be alive |

Funny how once they discovered the dead bodies they lost no time in capturing the escaped prisoner, but the prior three weeks he could run loose and do what he wanted. Lives could have been saved if they had put out more resources and especially publicity into the manhunt, urging people to watch out for him and not go to their cabins while he was still loose. |

Good luck finding a darker skinned man with black hair brown eyes between 5-6 feet tall in Texas. Needle in a haystack |
