Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81065075 were are those cars now?? Good question - I bought a Honda civic in June 2019, and went new because was selling below dealer cost, at almost no premium over the used models - and I had hundreds to choose from. Wasn't that long ago. . . They want to do away with driving, along with everything else - |

Depends. The quarter panels can be replaced , if the rust under the chassis and especially the frame is badly rusted, it's not worth 8000. If it has a rebuild-able engine or an engine running fairly good , a functional transmission and transfer case, and a solid frame it's worth about 10,000 to a collector for a ground up restoration, at which point it will be worth around 50 large |

I work on them myself and old Toyotas can be found for dirt cheap. Sure high mileage but reliable as hell. Parts are plentiful and cheap. Picked up a Scion xa for 2800 and a Previa for 850. 200k and 293k respectively. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75797803 People complaining about new cars that should cost $30k suddenly costing $40-50k are hardly “rich.” It also has zero to do with the topic. You choose to buy older cheaper models. |

They don’t want us to have autonomy in older cars that aren’t traceable or electric. WTF do you want a V-8 in that car? Wanted a cheap 4 door saloon, I like Jap cars and I love v8s. Anonymous Coward User ID: 79308061 United States 06/13/2022 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bought my wife a new RAV4 hybrid last November. What I did was use autotrader and cars. com to search dealers inventories out to 500 miles. I found one 90 miles away with the right color and trim. Called them and put a 500 deposit to hold it, I did pay sticker but no markups. I was also talking to a dealer almost 400 miles away when the closer one popped up on my searches. Good luck! |

Front engine rear wheel drive perfect for track days. Something a bit different. When I was in high school and my first year of college I had a 240-Z I got for a song. I wish I still had that car but by the time I sold it , it was rusted very badly from the northern New York salt. If I were you though I would leave the original engine in it, what you want to do is not easy and will give you endless problems. It used to be you could just take one engine out one car and put it in any other essentially with a few modifications, now the entire electrical system is linked to that engine and its computer. |

Past two years were a frenzy, largest avg gross in over two decades. That ship has sailed. People are now settleing into the new relaity of buying or leasing a car. Leases used to be 200-300 amonth sign and drive, now its 500-600. Crazy times ahead. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70391341 I paid 21.5k out the door in 17 NEVER trade in. FOR SALE BY OWNER Good advice before the Obiden coup, when the fussy mooch customer was king. Now you're competing with dealers for the FSBO car, and they will snatch it up before you can finish your coffee. I wasted 3 days last year travelling 1000 miles calling dozens of ads for the type of car I was looking for, and the local dealers were buying them within 10 minutes of the ads posting. Long gone are the days of wasting the salesman's time test driving every color, then low balling for hours to try to get a lower price/payment. The dealers will laugh you off the lot unless you are ready to pay full price for cars in stock, (or more), and/or/plus wait weeks for an ordered new car. It's kind of refreshing in a way to see the mooches have to swallow their entitlement attitudes and pony up the $$$, or GTFO :gtfo: well said |

Now, WHY IN UNHOLY HELL would you bundle a depreciating asset as an investment? The answer is that "you" wouldn't, because that is insane, BUT, banks did it because the inflation/deflation cycle is planned decades in advance and now you are seeing them inflate the used car market so they can bail out of those car note bundles and/or let them rot and trigger the maltdown that is only just beginning. THEY BUNDLED CAR NOTES AS INVESTMENTS!!!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWWW TTTTTTTTTTTTT FFFFFFFFFFFFF !!!!!!!!!!!!! |
