I had the same thought last night when I was working during our town's 4th of July celebration. There was a carnival, parade, fireworks. Usually the town is packed and store is burning through anything that's on the shelf. I looked at our numbers at the end of the night and it was not the same.

I've worked this night for 10 years now and seen the numbers. Lowest I'd seen was maybe 2 and a half times larger than a normal day and that was a while ago and when the store had an unpopular owner. This year we did a little better than doubling a normal day.

Another signal was ice sales. We've had the same setup for the last few years and despite it almost being 100 degrees we barely needed the extra stockpile. I think the only reason I touched it was because it was easier to carry overall.

The one thing that I'm not sure of is how much the whole boycott concept was took up by people. Suppose if things spike tomorrow as people refill their tanks and pantries maybe that'll offset it but it's still something I keep in the back of my mind to try and explain the oddity.

Anyway, just figured I'd chime in with my experience from my neck of the plains.

Something is up. Post office only delivers mail a couple times per week. I think it's every 3 days... Claim each carrier is covering 8 rural routes. They've been holding 2 small packages for almost 2 weeks and won't redeliver.

Well, if everyone's debt is reset to zero so is their currency. All currency comes from debt. Zero out the debt means zero out the currency. Everyone holding currency goes to zero. Bank accounts, paper cash, stock accounts, etc. ZERO. Only physical assets will still have intrinsic value.

Dunno. I live in central Texas. They are developing a huge tract of land in my neighborhood to build more houses but my next door put house on market and still no buyer after a month so the price went down. The sudden increase in interest rate right before they put the house on market has to hurt a lot because houses prior to that raise were sold pretty fast.

I noticed it this past weekend grocery shopping. Holiday weekend, yet grocery store not packed at all like usual. Parked near the front which would never happen in the past.

Usually use self-checkout but because so many lanes were open with almost no people, decided to go to regular checkout. MANY items that had sale tags did not ring up correctly. Was overcharged but did not notice until everything was checked out because I had to bag my own groceries to help the cashier out as they had no baggers available.

Will only be using self-checkout from now on because I don't want to get overcharged. Never seen it so bad before.

People scattered all over the country and some areas are now higher in population than before. Places which were once busy are now quiet, and once quiet places are now overrun.

Look at the rural northeast US ... no residential vacancy, all services booked to the max, heavy traffic, long lines at stores, just more people in some areas than ever before.

So, these places you are seeing economic slow down are likely the places from which people recently fled.
