It is my recollection that those stones do not say anything regarding depopulation, merely, that after whatever cataclysm (asteroid, super volcano, WWIII, pandemic, biblical apocalypse, etc.) is to befall us, to heed words of wisdom regarding the rebuilding of humanity- to include valuing the natural world and not needlessly infringing on animal's habitats, etc. Hardly 'evil'- the 500,000,000 people thing has been misconstrued to infer that someone needs to make this number the case.
