The legislation represents the biggest attack on Americans’ 2nd Amendment rights in history and dwarfs the 1994 weapons ban, championed by then-Senator Joe Biden, which expired in 2004. Studies into that legislation have shown it to have had virtually zero impact on stemming gun deaths, merely acting as an aide in disarming law-abiding Americans. HR 1808, which Democrats are calling the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, passed through the House of Representatives on Friday by a hyperpartisan vote of 217-213. Following the vote, Jacobs and Fitzpatrick were eviscerated by the American Firearms Association, who called them “traitors” and accused them of driving “a knife into the backs of the people who voted them into office.” [link to pbs.twimg.com (secure)] While corporate media and Democrat politicians have sold the legislation as a ban on “military-style assault weapons,” HR 1808 goes far beyond targetting America’s most popular rifle, the AR-15, and reclassifies a host of other commonly owned firearms as “assault weapons,” some by name and others by criteria, exercising a sweeping ban on semi-automatics. Is because the shit they, and the UN, are gonna try to pull here in the United States of America. They know Americans will shoot them for, whatever they are about to do. Especially if it involves children. Last Edited by Weathermanblack on 08/01/2022 12:38 PM |

That ban lasted 10 years and courts found it Constitutional. (They didn't change anything because the old law has already been approved by multiple courts -- any new restrictions could open it up to new lawsuits.) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54243940 It bans the production and sale of new weapons and accessories that are listed in the bill. It has no affect on existing weapons and accessories that are already legally owned. If you have an AR, or a pistol with a threaded barrel tip, or a 30 round magazine, they aren't trying to take them away. And if you currently own a prohibited item, you'll still be able to sell it. If you don't own one, you'll be able to buy a pre-ban item. Just like the '94 ban this doesn't change anything regarding the stuff that already exists. You can own, use, transport, buy, or sell any existing items. The ban only applies to items made on or after the date when the ban goes into effect. ---------------- It's a stupid, useless law just like the '94 ban. The only thing it'll accomplish is to drive up the prices of pre-ban items. But it's not confiscation. It's not the end of the world. It's just going back to the way things were from 1994 to 2004. Let's assume that you read the bill in its entirety, under provisions of the bill if your grandfathered weapons and magazines are not locked up or on your person and are visible to any random visitor and they report you to the police, the police can then arrest you and take away all your weapons and ammunition under the terms of this bill. That means anyone that has seen Facebook posts or Youtube videos of you wielding the banned weapons or magazines can in turn report you to the authority as a threat and a criminal and there are no repercussions against turning anyone in. Here's the text of the bill as it was passed. [link to www.congress.gov (secure)] That's not what the law says. "(aa) Secure Storage Or Safety Device Requirement For Grandfathered Semiautomatic Assault Weapons.—It shall be unlawful for any person, other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer, to store or keep under the dominion or control of that person any grandfathered semiautomatic assault weapon that the person knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, will be accessible to an individual prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm under subsection (g), (n), or (x), or any provision of State law, unless the grandfathered semiautomatic assault weapon is— “(1) carried on the person, or within such close proximity that the person can readily retrieve and use the grandfathered semiautomatic assault weapon as if the grandfathered semiautomatic assault weapon were carried on the person; or “(2) locked by a secure gun storage or safety device that the prohibited individual has no ability to access.”." If you have minor children in your residence or have guests who are convicted felons, you have to keep your prohibited items locked up when you're not around. If you don't have them locked up you have to be close enough to them to maintain control of them. If kids or felons aren't around you don't have to lock up the items. If your guns are locked up you might as well not have them. This is the honest truth. You will not be able to get to them in time anyway. They want them locked up so when they kick down your door to confiscate them, you can't access them. If they are not locked up, they will confiscate them and ban you from purchasing another firearm for not having them locked up. |

Every police action, even a minor traffic stop will be an kill or be killed situation. They may get away with it the first couple of days, then they will be hunted down and killed. The government personnel should think very carefully how badly they wan tot continue to stay in power and suck from the tit of free money.
