Re: My GF of 15 years lied to me about her age. Advice?
How old is she ?

If she lied about her age , she violated your trust. Forgive her and move on OP. She has deceived you for years. What else do you think she's lying about?
 Quoting: CigarTigher

Not sure, I guess my bigger question is, if she knew she was now in her 50s, why would she have waited to long to have a child. She and I agreed back when we couldnt support one financially, but u would think given her age that she would have been hurrying me along...Nope. Now she is trying all the fertility drugs.
 Quoting: Cebeij

If she's 50 or older? You seriously don't want to play dna roulette with a child. The likelihood of serious genetic defects goes way up. Given that there's the question of will she live long enough to see the kid to maturity.

Trust me when I tell you she's telling you she's trying fertility drugs, she's flushing them or taking sugar pills.

If it were me I'd flash forward another ten years for both of you. She's no in her 60's while you're in your late 40's. The differences in age will only magnify, not diminish.

And if she lied about her age and you've gone along without voicing your suspicion for this long? She'll play you like a violin to get you to stay.

She never wanted to marry so you'd not see her DOB on the marriage license, etc.
 Quoting: Larry D. Croc

maybe maybe. Regarding the fertility, she was taking them. She had a VERY rough time with the last set, hot sweats all night, AC down to 65 at night, she couldnt sleep for 3 months almost. And had no period for 2 months after going off. So... She is actively trying.
 Quoting: Cebeij

That sounds like menopause..not fertility drugs..sounds like the fertility train passed you by

15 years is plenty enough time to get to know someone. Forgive her and forgive yourself for being a dumbass.

So, where did you get the actual year 14? Why are you 90% sure she is exactly 14 years older than you?

 Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn

her brothers have mentioned it indirectly. My parents initially investigated her via the internet. I was told by her it was not true. I trusted her and figured my parents were just being hot-headed. I got played like a fiddle I guess. And anytime i have questioned it, she had a good excuse ready.

my guess is she had to lie her way out of getting a whooping from her mother, so she got good at it.

A GF of 15 years that did not get pregnant and did not require you to marry her and does not require you to be around her family and you are complaining?

How have you never seen her papers like license, birth certificate, auto insurance ....they all have your birthdate and it's hard to fake ....unless she got fake docs. That a psycho move if she did.
 Quoting: Carbuncle

more like. zero docs. and that all fits in nicely with her story, which may have truths and half truths, which i intend to find out, just have been dredding bringing up the discussion as I'm pretty stress free.
 Quoting: Cebeij

Curious why for 15 years these docs were unretrievable? Must be a doozy of a story.

Well you want kids, and she's past that age. She apparently didn't expect kids, or she wanted to try with you, but it didn't work out probably because of her age.

Normally, from a 40,000 foot view, I would expect you to move on and meet a fertile young lady. (Unvaxed is best now, assuming your nuts are still working.) You're still a good age for fatherhood.

You say you love her so much but all the good memories won't substitute for not having kids. She knew what she was doing -- or else you're totally wrong. Even so, even if not, when you can't have kids with a woman, you try another. Don't be like Henry VIII (who tried 6 wives to have a son and male heir to the throne) and kill them so you could have another, you don't have to do that. Just move on.

Saw a similar situation like this unfold.

The whole relationship collapsed because of the lies

and the woman was not 'really in love' with the older

man as much as wanted to be taken care of.

If I love someone---THAT'S IT! I confront the lies and

tell her I still love her! I try my best to make her

feel comfortable that I know the truth!

Of course people lie! People lie ALL THE TIME!

We are sinners. We can't help but stretch the truth

or enhance a story to make people interested or to

make them believe we have a full life and have had

lots of great experiences. We want and long to be

loved by the opposite sex, friends and family that

things like this happen. And we must always 'practice'

forgiveness when we find out things that make some

uncomfortable to tell.

If I was OP, I would forget about having kids, concentrate

on living the best and fullest life I could with someone

who deeply loves me and realize that LIFE IS SHORT!

Things could go bad any moment. Appreciate the good

that God has given you, and try to instill an understanding

to my partner that she doesn't have to guard secrets

and we'll grow stronger as a couple if she clears the

air around us. That's what I would do...

They should adopt IMO. But I understand wanting to replicate.

I did, twice. I had 2 marriages to do that!

A daughter and 2 sons. But it was always

difficult and so stressing. ALL THE WORRY WAS INTENSE.

I slept good till kids. Not because they wake me/her

for feeding, because of the condition of the world

and the cost of living. Now it's totally unacceptable.

The cost of food and rent is outrageous. I can't see doing

it again in this time. But if your set on it---adopt!

I've met wonderful families where the kids appreciate

their parents so much more because they saved them!!!
