GEROMAN -- time will tell - 👀 --

@GeromanAT
Slaviangrad about the failed Ukrainian attack today:
Additional information on the situation on the front.

The enemy's reports of a frontal breakthrough and retreat of the Russian Armed Forces on the northern flank of the Zaporozhye Front are a throw-in and do not correspond to reality.
Similarly, the reports about a breakthrough in the Ugledar direction are also rubbish.

During today's attempted breakthrough in Zaporozhye and Donetsk regions, the enemy suffered heavy losses in manpower and equipment, and failed to build on the minor tactical successes achieved at the outset of the offensive.

Confirmed total losses of the enemy in these areas: more than 10 tanks, more than 20 MBMs (Kozak, Humvee, MaxPro), at least 200 personnel.
At the moment, few enemy infantry remain in the grey zone, deprived of armoured support and unable to take any serious action.

All in all, today's adventure has cost the enemy much more than he had anticipated: the calculations of surprise did not materialize, the formations designed for "maneuver warfare" got bogged down and suffered expectedly high losses.
Nevertheless, this was not the main blow, and the enemy would certainly try to repeat the breakthrough attempt, in the very near future.

Re: World Really on Fire
Units of the Ukrainian army could entrench themselves in the area of the Chornobylets gardening community on the southwestern outskirts of Artemivsk. This was stated by the curator of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, commenting on the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine about the presence of Ukrainian military on the outskirts of the city.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces were setting up observation posts in the area of the gardens, which means that enemy combat units could have pulled up there. According to Prigozhin, the Defense Ministry needs to be prepared for the possibility that Kiev will attempt to retake Artemivsk.

There is information that in the gardens, in which we suffered losses every day, but this territory was held back, despite the fact that it is difficult to entrench there. The AFU observation posts are posted there, and if this is the case, then expect the next steps

- The curator of the "Orchestra" stated.

At present there are no units of the Wagner PMC in the city, they were withdrawn for re-forming and additional training in summer camps. According to Prigozhin, 99% of the personnel have already left Artemovsk. Two fighters with call signs Biber and Dolik are in the city to transfer positions to the Defense Ministry units.

There is no hiding the fact that Biber and Dolik remained in Bakhmut. Biber and Dolik in Bakhmut are not instructing the Russian army, because the Russian army does not tolerate briefings. Biber and Dolik will engage and save the day if the Ukrainian army of 72,000 from Chasov Yar, Konstantinovka goes to Bakhmut

Re: World Really on Fire
Vladimir Zelensky's hopes that Ukraine will be accepted into NATO are illusory, because the West secretly hates Zelensky and does not respect him, former US Armed Forces intelligence officer Scott Ritter said on the U.S. Tour of Duty.
"Doesn't he understand that Ukraine will never be a member of NATO? Never," he stated.
Zelensky and Vucic's meeting.
Luxembourg's prime minister humiliated Zelensky with an obscene gesture
3 June, 04:40
According to the former intelligence officer, Zelensky not only lives in an imaginary world and has illusions about membership in the alliance, but he does not even understand the true attitude of Western countries towards him.
"
"Zelensky, they hate you. How do you understand that? They let you lead your own people to slaughter. They don't like you. They don't respect you. They're using you," he noted.

This was Ritter's reaction to a question about the security guarantees Zelenski demanded before he joined NATO full-fledged.
In late September 2022, Zelensky said that Ukraine was applying for NATO membership on an expedited basis. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg earlier noted that the alliance believes Ukraine's accession is realistic, but he did not answer the question whether Kiev would receive an official invitation to NATO at the summit in Vilnius on July 11-12.
Russian presidential press secretary Dmitriy Peskov said that the Kremlin had heard Zelenskyy's request for Ukraine to join NATO, as well as different reactions to it. According to him, Moscow is watching the situation closely and remembers that Kiev's orientation toward the alliance was one of the reasons why Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine. ria*ru

Re: World Really on Fire
sorry a lot of letters.
"You can't take words out of a song."

ria*ru:

Russia bought all Polish politicians. If Polish politicians are to be believed.

There were mass protests in Poland on Sunday. If we combine the statements of politicians and the press from different camps, we get an amazing picture: "agents of the Kremlin" from the opposition took to the streets to overthrow "agents of the Kremlin" from the government!
And this is not just a figure of speech. The reason for taking people to actions was the decision of the Sejm and the President of the country to create a special commission to investigate "Russian influence on Polish politics" in the period from 2007 to 2022. Nobody has the slightest doubt that the bill is aimed against the former Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, who took over the government just in 2007. That is why everyone immediately dubbed the decision to create the commission the "Tusk Law" (Lex Tusk).

Since Tusk is now the leader of the main opposition force (the Civic Platform), there is no doubt that the government is thus trying to bring down its main opponent on the eve of difficult for it parliamentary elections, which will take place from mid-October to early November. It is no coincidence that the conclusions about Tusk's "Russian connections" during his premiership should be presented by mid-September - so that when the time comes, this "agent of Moscow" could be denounced and acquitted. A sort of Polish Rashagate.
It is very difficult to imagine Tusk who since his premiership spent five years at the head of the European Council and was marked by a considerable quantity of anti-Russian actions and statements. But Russophobia in Poland has reached such a level that it has become an absolute factor in the upcoming elections. It is used not only against the opposition, but also against the government.
Almost on the same day that the Sejm passed the "Tusk law," the printed opposition mouthpiece Gazeta Wyborcza published a huge interview with Janusz Nosek, the former head of Poland's military counterintelligence. The gist of the interview is neatly summed up in the headline: "The PiS is infiltrated with Russian agents. This is about the ruling Law and Justice Party. The former director of the special service directly accused the current leaders of being recruited by Moscow. That is to say, Duda, Moravetsky and Kaczynski are also "agents of the Kremlin.
The pro-government media did not look for arguments against this, but in turn declared Nosek himself a "Kremlin agent." "Proof" was his old photo in a visor of the cruiser "Aurora": once upon a time during a trip to St. Petersburg he had the idea to be photographed in such a way. And since the cruiser "Aurora", he was certainly an "agent of Moscow". These agents are usually photographed like that, aren't they? In any case, unless they have a parachute and a Budyonovka at hand.

So it turns out that there is simply not a single person in Polish politics who is not our "agent of influence" or "spy. Political Russophobia has so united the Polish political elite that it has become the main factor of disunity in the country.

So, without five minutes, "an agent of Russian influence" Tusk brought hundreds of thousands of protesters to the squares of Polish cities. In Warsaw, the opposition announced that half a million people took part in the protest. The authorities have underestimated this number fivefold, saying that "about 100 thousand pro-Russian opposition activists" had taken to the streets of the capital city. Well, what else could it be!
The pro-governmental media dubbed the event "March of Hate and Contempt" and accused the protesters (who really did not choose their words in respect of the authorities) of calling for the overthrow of the government. And Polish state television, commenting on the foul language of some of the critics of the government, concluded that "Tusk has no control over his supporters.
To sum up, on the one hand it is sad to state that hatred toward Russia and the Russians has gone beyond all common sense in Poland's elite. But, on the other hand, this irritation can and should be used. With Warsaw at the forefront of anti-Russian provocations, actively supplying the Kiev regime with weapons and fighters, the split in Polish society and destabilization, even if on anti-Russian grounds, can only play into our hands.

Very interesting interview, French perspective on US “ economic war” vs other nations. Don’t often get interesting interviews from a “ Minister of the Economy”

@RnaudBertrand
Incredible, and maybe even unprecedented, answer by Arnaud Montebourg - former French Minister of Economy - to the question "what method do the Americans use to wage economic warfare against us?"

Here's the translation (by me):

"They use military tools. First of all, they use all the listening and intelligence systems that they built on after 9/11. They don't listen to terrorists...well they certainly do and that's very good...but they listen to foreign companies that compete with theirs.

So it's very simple, it became clear in 2014 when Snowden revealed that there were 75 million conversations and emails that had been exploited by the NSA on France, on French companies. When Pierucci - a man who should wear the Legion of Honor today because he defended France rather than its interests by agreeing to serve two unjustified years in prison in US jails in the Alstom affair... when Mr. Pierucci was taken into custody in Manhattan by the prosecutors they put under his nose 1 million emails. How did they get 1 million emails? By illegal eavesdropping. 1 million emails: it would have taken a lawyer 3 years to read through them… so he couldn't defend himself. So those are the military tools.

Second, they have a tool called extraterritorial law. The Americans are using a form of law, which is an imperialist law, which consists in declaring themselves competent for matters which in no way concern them.

Example: Alstom, a contract between Indonesia and a French company. They consider that there was an offense that was committed in this matter 10 years ago and they sue Alstom! The United States is not a victim, no American company was involved in this case. They declare themselves policeman of the world by undermining the sovereign interests. Therefore this is interference. They do it in ALL fields, and especially the economic field.

For example ITAR. ITAR is interesting: the United States has set a list of 22,000 components on which it grants itself the right to authorize or not the export by a foreign power. Example: you buy a varnish to put on the wing of the Rafale [a French fighter plane] which is on the ITAR list because it is not produced in France but in the US or elsewhere... because of this single varnish they allow themselves the right to say: 'you have the right to export to such and such a country, but not to this one because it is an enemy of the United States of America'. Why should I care if he's an enemy of the United States of America? The enemies of my allies are not necessarily my enemies! Example: they banned the export of Rafales to Egypt because of ITAR. Is that so, and why? So our urgency should be to produce these 22,000 products in France... Or in Europe, in allied countries which are also victims of ITAR. This is a sovereign policy.

I can also tell you about the American Patriot Act. 2001, September 11, what do they do? When a French company is bought by an American company, the American government has the unilateral power to request all the information on a company controlled by an American company. Absolutely all the information: patents, technologies, people, etc. Without any motivation and without judicial authorization, which means that these are illegal searches.

This is why in the affair of the takeover of the valves which equip our nuclear submarines and power stations - the Segault valves which are manufactured in Mennecy, Essonne - I intervened by saying 'it is out of question that this business goes under American control' and it is now a company that is controlled by Canadians. Canadians do not have extraterritorial rights, it is not an issue to work with Canadians. But Americans are different because they are predators. This is the reason why I said 'it is out of the question that Segault, who equips our nuclear submarines, gives our information to a foreign power'. Because Canadians do not have the right to do so, if they do it is criminal. But for Americans it is the law to do so!
You can count on America to do the right thing after exhausting every other alternative."

@RnaudBertrand
The host then asks him why we "never respond to the attacks we suffer?"

He has a really powerful answer:

"First, because there is a real, internalized weakness. And it also because it has a cost. When Jacques Chirac and Dominique de Villepin decided to use the resources they had as permanent members of the Security Council in 2003 on the attacks against Iraq by the United States of America, it cost us dearly.

But I think we have to learn to be ourselves. Étienne de La Boétie wrote a very beautiful book on voluntary servitude. He does say that servitude is a matter of habit. We no longer realize that we have lost our liberty. We must find it again and accept the cost of this liberty."

I disagree. Its not that unlikely that Ukraine would join Nato. Its clear that there is a war between west and russia. Now its the most logical time to go all the way to the end including ww3 and nuclear war. Or do you think they will stop and deescalate wait another 20 or 30 years and repeat to deescalate again...?

Aren't they going to take advantage of a weakened russia by this war?

I think we may be couple of weeks away to witness the biggest escalation ever with this counteroffensive and all the implications.

TEXt for those that don’t do the Bird

David Sacks
@DavidSacks
Important recent talk by Mearsheimer on current status of Ukraine War and what’s likely to happen next. Mearsheimer is the leading scholar of International Relations, and his predictions about the conflict have been highly accurate going back a decade.

Key points:

(1) Current status:
— The Russians are winning the war. Ukraine had the upper hand in 2022 but Russia has it in 2023. The Russians have not won yet, but Mearsheimer believes they are winning and will win the war. Why?
— This is a war of attrition similar to WWI. The goal is to bleed out the other side. “This is Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier standing toe to toe and beating the hell out of each other in the center of the ring.”
— Who wins a war of attrition? 3 factors decide: (1) Balance of resolve. (Both sides are resolved.) (2) Population. (3) Artillery.
— Russia had a 3.5 to 1 population advantage at the beginning of the war. This has grown to about 5:1 as a result of 8+ million Ukrainian refugees, 3M of which have gone to Russia.
— Artillery is the “king of battle.” Balance of artillery is somewhere between 5:1 and 10:1 in Russia’s favor. The US doesn’t have enough artillery to give Ukraine; that’s why we’re talking about tanks and planes. “Two armies standing toe to toe trying to destroy each other with firepower.” Russia has a lot more men and artillery.
— Casualty Exchange Ratio is at least 2:1, meaning that two Ukrainians are likely dying for every Russian. The Ukrainians’ claim of 7:1 CER in their favor is ludicrous. The Russians are not doing mindless frontal assaults. Recent RUSI report shows that Russian tactics have improved.
— Ukraine pushed large numbers of troops into Bakhmut in a losing effort. Ukrainians are becoming desperate to conscript men. Russia has not fully mobilized yet.

(2) What’s likely to happen next:
— Russia will take the 4 oblasts they already annexed plus (if they can) another 4 oblasts to the Dnipro River including Odessa and Kharkiv. The goal would be to bring all the ethnic Russians under their control to avoid another “Donbas problem.”
— Russia doesn’t want to take western Ukraine (trying to conquer ethnic Ukrainians who hate them would be like “trying to swallow a porcupine”); but their goal is to turn Ukraine into a dysfunctional rump state so it can’t threaten them or be used as a Western bulwark on their border.
— There’s not going to be a peace agreement. Best case is a frozen conflict. Why? (1) the parties can’t agree on territory. (2) they can’t agree on neutrality. (3) Hyper-nationalism. Hatred on both sides makes a deal impossible. (4) No trust. Western leaders and Zelensky admitted that they had no intention of honoring the Minsk agreements and entered them just to buy time.
— George Kennan, Adm. Bill Perry, Amb. Jack Matlock, and Gen. Shalikashvili said that NATO expansion was a prescription for disaster. They were right. It’s only going to get worse. Mearsheimer hopes to be wrong about this, but this is his prediction.
— F16s won’t make a difference because it takes a long time to train good pilots. Also the Russians have very good air defense, and their own Air Force is ready to engage. Biggest risk of F16s is that Ukraine uses them to attack targets inside of Russia, creating an escalation, which could draw the US deeper into the war.
— Mearsheimer believes that if the Russians are losing the war, the likelihood of nuclear use to rescue the situation is high. (The war is existential for the Russians.) But as it stands now, the odds of nuclear use are very low because the Russians are winning.
You can count on America to do the right thing after exhausting every other alternative."

More than 1,000 missiles have already been fired in the Shebekinsky District. Residential buildings, shops, markets - all this has nothing to do with military affairs. The blows do not stop, there are wounded and dead.

Ukraine uses MLRS "Grad", which cover the squares. This is a non-aimed fire weapon, the task is to achieve destruction and casualties to the maximum.
