Fallout dissipates over time. If you are worried, you should read up on it instead of coming here. Also prevailing winds. |

Redlener identified six cities that have the greatest likelihood of being attacked: New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82837963 They won't directly target cities initially like we do (Hiroshima, Nagasaki). They will target CA, WA, MT, SD, ND, NE, CO, LA, WY, OH and a few others. Anything having to do with nukes and the ability to deliver them. |

The worthwhile years have already passed. At least I won't have to try and function in mopp4. The traning we did when I was stationed in W. Germany was hell wearing all that crap. The idea anyone could fight in it for any lenth of time is just not possible. |

Maybe I can enjoy the serene glow of the mushroom cloud. We are in the middle of nowhere, near no targets worth nuking, but life after WWIII will NOT be a pleasure. Fallout and fires will make life horrible for months, and miserable for years. Fresh air and clean water will be a luxury. Supply chains? There won't be any. We will be ON OUR OWN, except for the dopers and convicts and looters and other predators who will kill you for a can of tuna fish. The unprepared survivors will be blessed or cursed, depending on how you look at it, with a very short life expectancy. |

Abruptly quitting the multiple media feeds of bullshit will be more debilitating to most of the sheeple. No massaged pro-Israel propaganda ever again is the greatest possible upside in the ruins. Not caring if Liz Cheney or Donald Trump are still breathing are huge reliefs. |

Lots of other refineries besides gas / oil... The "port" is used to ship out military vehicles and Port of Beaumont (20 miles away) is where they also ship out military vehicles...that where they keep the 2 super large military transport ships are based... |

COS would be gone first when the SHTF. Big ones, on the order of 20 megatons would be used for digging out Cheyenne Mountain, leading to very heavy fallout to the east. Being down here, upon seeing a blindingly bright flash off to the north, I'd have between 3 and 5 min before the deafening "crack" from the shockwave arrived. The fallout would/could pose a significant risk, depending on wind direction and precipitation bringing it down in hot spots. |
