This is not really anything out of the ordinary. There is a long stretch of tracks there that are practically right on the beach. Sooner or later there's going to be some kind of erosion.

With all the weight that that slope has been carrying for decades, it probably needs some civil engineering work. We have had problems in the past with collapses along the coast.

San Clemente is a wonderful town, but I remember parts of multi million $ homes hanging off the cliffs above PCH there in the 90’s from mudslides.

Texas and Arizona might get ocean front from Ca. sliding into Canada and not the ocean. All the so called experts have said that the fault is sliding north

My dad owns a condo in Laguna Hills, built in the 1970s and in good condition. He recently moved from there into an assisted living facility, so my sister just rented the condo out to someone on his behalf.

The new tenant just moved in on Friday and called my sister to inform her that there was a big crack in the wall. (about 1/3 inch wide and from the floor to about 3 feet high).

My sister had been there at the condo two days earlier and there was no crack. So the crack in the wall happened between Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon, which fits into the timeline of the rails shifting.
