Anonymous Coward User ID: 82603994 Netherlands 11/15/2022 09:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a tree in my backyard over the driveway that I want removed to avoid any hazard. It's 15 feet long and five inches diameter. The branch is roughly 20 feet off the ground. Quoting: Tonight We Ride! I requested a tree company quote taking the limb down, which is a job that will take roughly one hour for one person. The quote was $1,200. I was literally stunned. Climb up there with a bow saw and do it yourdself you soft cunt. |

Quoting: 4strikes It’s over something they should have learned how to do/make themselves. Inflation isn’t out of control, dependence on first-world civilization is however. Yes, I'll do it myself. You could even buy a brand new, NICE chainsaw & be ahead. |

OP --- you are getting hosed. Get some buddies, a tall ladder, rope to tie it off with and a chainsaw and you're done. Use the rope to tie back to make the branch fall in the direction you need it to go. Cut the branch from the top down so it doesn't bind on your chainsaw. |

Why do you want to remove a perfectly healthy tree? Are you a retard? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84756603 United States 11/15/2022 10:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tree climber here. $1200 is not out of the ballpark. I charge $300 just to show up with my climbing gear. Do you have any idea how much just a climbing rope costs? Or a chipper? How about liability insurance and worker's comp? Here in California tree contractors must carry worker's comp now even if they work solo. I just bid a one branch removal over a driveway and house. It will probably take just me about 5 hours and I bid $500. It was for a friend so I cut them a deal. Anyone else it would be close to $800. $1200 is pretty cheap when you consider the skill, risk and equipment involved. You would've already done it yourself if it were so easy. Just how much would you expect to pay if that tree or branch went the wrong way? Trees are pretty heavy and do not negotiate. |

I get what you are saying - for a guy to be in business today, these are the costs because of all the bullshit the business owner has to deal with - insurance, OSHA and all the required gear - I get it. THAT'S WHY EVERYTHING IS MADE IN CHINA TODAY. Because there's too much government. In reality, it takes 2 guys with only 1 of them with half a brain to do this correctly - without all the fancy gear and do it safely. |
