I spent a lifetime 30 to 110 feet off the ground. Once you get accustomed to it, you forget that you can die by falling off of a tall step ladder.

I was climbing an old wooden ladder and fucked myself good. Half way up to the roof a rung broke and I literally bolted to the top of that fucker and then wondered how I was going to get down safely.

Fair enough.

Better to be left wondering how to get down than laying on the ground with your femur staring you in the eye.

Working high iron is a win win situation . The higher you get the closer to God you are . Taking the quickest way down opens the door to God's kingdom.

Those are acceptable terms . In my youth I liked it . In my old age I miss it .

now, the reason *you* don’t have this fear, is because you are confident you know how to walk

some people are confident enough in their balance, they perceive this as a similar threat. the world wouldn’t function without people lacking this fear; skyscrapers, radio towers, fire watchers... these people provide a security those with this fear cannot provide

you should be thankful for their existence. you should find it cool that someone has belief in their body and skill enough to put themselves in harms way for your sake. don’t be so selfish and judgmental op, be thankful on this day

I used to install and service cell phone towers in the late 90s and early 2000s..

The highest I climbed was 450' but normal 150' monopoles.

I was always afraid of heights and still am...I just got married too early and had to pay bills.

I used to install satellite dishes in spite of being scared of heights. Less so now but I still don't like it.

Crazy job without safety equipment.
I'm surprised more installers don't die on the job.

Sometimes I think back on my closest calls and get a jolt of adrenaline, a mini panic attack.
