Half an engine, no attempt to balance the rotating mass, NOTHING will stay in adjustment, and stuff loosens up all over the bike.

Bad copies should be bought out and shut down to preserve value.

HD licensed a lot of their tech to Buell, but the product was shlocky AF.

A few years ago I would have laughed at this, but about a year ago I built an electric dirt bike that has totally changed my mind. Were I to be in the market for a motorcycle, it would without a doubt be electric. With the one exception of a touring motorcycle, but that's a teeny tiny market share, that I believe is pretty much dominated by Honda.

I think the battery tech is to the point where cars are kind of borderline, but an ICE motorcycle these days is quite frankly just asinine.

If HD can do it well, I have no doubt this will be a huge success. They absolutely have to try, though, or other companies will absolutely push them out of the market. The advantages and savings of an electric motorcycle are such that ICE motorcycles will be hated within a few years. For one thing, the performance of electric is off the charts. Even small electric motors can outperform all but the most powerful ICE equivalents in terms of cost and weight. Actually, the electric dirt bike I built can probably beat most HDs off the line, even though the top speed is less due to gearing. Then there's the ease of maintenance. Not much to go wrong if they're well built, no oil changes, and even brakes last almost forever because of regen braking. About the only maintenance is tires.

Regen braking is a death-wish.

Im an American and love Japanese bikes.

I have had the privilege of trying the HD Live Wire EV! It was brilliant. Sure it’s heavy, the range isn’t great and some of the UI choices baffle the mind, yet it was great. For those in a city, it’s amazing, however, I would add that HD need to upgrade the springs. It’s very heavy.

Yet, look beyond that. Imagine a little Honda GROM with an EV motor! Sounds fun and economically sound for those into climate change! I thought the bike was great! Again, for city use and short excursions outside the city. I’m excited for where the EV bike is going. Hell, even the Tesla is a good car. With that said, cars and bikes don’t equal the same experience. I drove a Tesla and loved it, for about 1k miles. It became boring and lifeless(hurts the environment more), yet EV bikes appeal to me!

Pan Heads, Shovel Heads, even finally built a respectable crotch rocket! But nah, lets throw our American Heritage out with the bath water because larger voices calling??

I mean its not like hey we want to go along and get along and try out a few electric models and see what Americans think?
