Quoting: R(r) 85272000 Or are you stuck at word BY God? Inspired as it is, men wrote the Bible. It's on you to rightly divide (understand) it. Do you really believe the Old Testament was inspired by the true highest God? To me its content mostly shows the inspiration had to have come from lower fallen angels, portraying themselves as the ruler of heaven and earth, and with their interest in war and conquest and strict religious rules, with animal sacrifices, and punishment by death for unbelievers, could not possibly be anything we should be paying attention to in this day and age. |

That you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel. I am the LORD, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. Thus says the LORD, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker Truly You are God, who hide Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior! For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: "I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, In a dark place of the earth; I did not say to the seed of Jacob, 'Seek Me in vain'; I, the LORD, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. Your use of liar is a religious term that has a different meaning outside your religion. Lying is asserting something he knows or believes is untrue with an an intent to mislead and deceive. If Jesus really believed what he was saying, he was not lying, and I am not calling him a liar. I maintain the freedom to agree or disagree with his or anyone’s beliefs, and when I do not agree with them, I do not accuse them of lying. Maybe you should stop your wrong use of that term. |

There are fundamental flaws built in the bible to limit your understanding of who your are. OP is right when he says God does not talk in riddles and does not deceive. A book written by God would be much more elegant and simple. God’s creation is all around you in nature. Compare God’s creation to the creation of the bible and you will understand it was a creation of those wishing only to deceive. I suppose you are ignoring he part about men wrote the Bible, as you simultaneously say "God does not talk in riddles". Cute. Sounds like you need your diaper changed. Cute: hominem argument (Attacking the person): This fallacy occurs when, instead of addressing someone's argument or position, you irrelevantly attack the person or some aspect of the person who is making the argument. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78151239 "The Bible is an integrated message system, the product of supernatural engineering. Every number, every place name, every detail every jot and tittle is there for our learning, our discovery, and our amazement. Truly, our God is an awesome God." [link to www.khouse.org] "Since God has the technology to create us in the first place, He certainly has the technology to get a message to us. But how does He authenticate His message? It may seem old-fashioned to take the Bible seriously, especially in our modern age of scientific discoveries and multicultural emphases. It has become politically correct to deny the existence of absolutes and to deny the involvement of our Creator in our affairs. And yet there are many intellectual and well-informed people who take the Bible very seriously—who even regard its origin as supernatural. Why? My own personal background has been in the information sciences—computers, communication, cryptography, and the like. With graduate degrees in engineering and business, and having spent a 30-year career in the corporate boardrooms of over a dozen high-tech enterprises, I have become most profoundly impressed by two astonishing discoveries: 1.The 66 books which we call the Bible constitute a highly integrated message system. What makes this so astonishing is the fact that they were penned by more than forty different people over a period of several thousand years!1 Yet we now discover that virtually every detail of the Biblical text evidences a highly skillful integrated design from cover to cover. In fact, every word, every place name, every detail was apparently placed there (in the original) deliberately as part of an overall intricate plan. 2.What is even more astounding is that it can be demonstrated that the origin of this intricate design is from outside of our dimension of space and time." "A Message of Extraterrestrial Origin" "We are in possession of this collection of 66 books we call The Bible, written by more than 40 authors over several thousands of years, yet we now discover it is an integrated message from outside our time domain. It repeatedly authenticates this uniqueness by describing history before it happens. And this discovery totally shatters our traditional concepts of reality." [link to www.khouse.org] |

Good Luck. Raised a Christian, read the bible cover to cover, prayed on my knees when my dad was dying, felt no love, no comfort, not a thing. Left the church and never looked back. You're lost in a delusion. You're missing out man. Do you think that: - Everybody who gets prayed for should live forever? IMO, that would be weird. - We should be God, and God should be our servant? That would be awkward as well dude. Did not say he asked for father not to die, was praying to get love, comfort, and I assume assurance that his father would be okay after death. Why does the Bible have conflicting opinions on life after death, why do some bible believers stay convinced of soul sleep in the grave, knowing nothing and feeling nothing, while others believe the soul leaves the body at death and goes to be with God in heaven. The Bible offers little assurance for those who have doubts that their dying loved one was ‘saved’ or was good enough to deserve eternal life, or are afraid loved one will become gone completely to the grave, no longer alive, or whether he had confessed all sins and was forgiven before dying and will go to a good place. It’s easier to just reject all the confusion and dread for the loved one’s fate caused by the poor information given in the bible and walk away, no longer give it any thought or credence. A lot of us don't really know the fate of our loved ones after death.... In reality, just because one serves God with their whole heart their whole lives, that doesn't imply any kind of assurances for any of said person's loved ones. We all have to stand before God and give an account of the life that He gave us.. whether good or bad. Of course, asking God directly.. can give you answers for yourself. You are only responsible, and can only control - your own selves at any given moment.... which you will be called on later to account for. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Matthew 12:36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hint: It really helps to have ones sins forgiven beforehand, with a real relationship / a two-way dialog going on... first. I don't know of any verse that infers a kind of soul-sleep occurring after death. In fact, I see the opposite. |
