It doesn't "fuck with the cylinders".

It stops the V-6 from shutting off half the cylinders and shortening the life of the engine.

It was also done 2 years ago. no temporal correlation.

I read and speak to professionals, not commercial watchers...

I cleaned it a year ago with MAF sensor cleaner. It looked clean already, but it made a significant improvement.

Part of the problem is that with direct injection engines, the fuel no longer washes over the intake valves.

I think I will start doing those Seafoam or CRC valve cleaning operations once every 10,000 miles.

When I replaced the spark plugs a couple months ago, I was surprised how black and cruddy they looked for only around 50,000 miles on the clock. Well, the ones in the back anyway. Those were the ones that the Variable cylinder system had been shutting off.

I never said I know what it looks like, but the oil remains clean and I have had no problems with it in over 30 years...Plus I owned a repair shop for 26 years, successful enough to retire at 42, so what do I know lol

Plus, I have attended seminars, classes, and spoken to various companies that make the chemicals that go into gasoline, but I suppose they are just liars and scammers, right?? LOL

Here in Indiana we had VET or emission testing for quite a long time. I helped many people get through emission testing with my knowledge and expertise, but that probably means nothing. Am I right?

You are right- that means nothing. Many shops helped people get through emission testing. If you had attended seminars, classes and spoken to “chemical people” and had expertise in, well, anything, you wouldn’t have just run some small town daddy/son little mechanics garage. The way you talk yourself up, you should’ve done much better than that. But you didn’t. And you aren’t anything. Except for in your inflated persona on a website. You should be embarrassed like your family is about you.

Update. Was still getting a very occasional bauble at idle.

Just got done doing a throttle body cleaning, did another MAF sensor cleaning while I was under there, and did maybe 1/4 can of seafoam in the intake with it running around 1800 rpm.

Relearned the throttle position sensor, cleared the code I generated while spraying the Seafoam in the hole for the MAF sensor. It set a code because it didn't have the MAF sensor connected I guess. Cleared the code.

Took it for a spin. Super smooth. I think that finally fixed it. If not I will swap out a new idle control valve.
