Quoting: Anonymous Coward 622863A bit much for a 5'2" 125 lb. girl, but it is all about practice. Our plan is to start with the bb gun, which we can shoot in his back yard. Then the .22 which kept jamming, hence the intense cleaning session. Then the .45. He taught me to field strip and reassemble the .45, but both weapons were thoroughly disassembled and oiled. LOL! I brought my own boolits for his .45 and my cleaning kit. He liked the lube. |

User ID: 461058 United States 02/25/2009 06:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You did well especially handling .45's recoil. Smart, thinking about home defense with the shotgun. Most shotguns are useless in close quarters: hallways and going through doorways. Try shot loads in that .45! My advice: Get a bb or pellet gun that feels like the .45 and practice often. Hand-eye coordination is instinct after enough practice. Past: Taught a 5' 0-1/2" 105lb ex to shoot. She was more accurate, in aimed fire, than me, in just a few hundred shots. With .22 .380 9mm and shotgun. Taught her martial arts. She kicked me in the nose and broke my nose. I was so proud! (my nose was nearly a foot over her head) IMHO ALL women should be able and willing to defend themselves. past: Took one GF to Sheriff's for a Concealed Carry Permit. She had a warrant. They took her into custody and I called her ex to help me pay fine and arrange bail. As she was being arrested, the desk Deputy said: "When she gets it cleared up; Give her the gun." She still carries that AMT Backup now. |

Pistol permit in my state is a bitch, and you know what I'm dealing with right now so it isn't a good time to go for one. When all is said and done I'm putting it in. Next: .357 revolver. The Mossberg is great, and I have good set up for self defense. Call 911, leave the line open, three warnings, one of which will be the intimidating sound of the rack, the other two will be me telling them to get the fuck out of my house. If they come up to the loft, clear shot and clear case of self-defense. |

[link to www.mechtechsys.com] This is the first CCU MechTech created. It is also the most highly tested with some units now having reached the 100,000 round mark! Highly effective, this will add greater versatility to your current handgun. Muzzle energy is increased by some 25%, not to mention greater accuracy at greater distances. We've even received pictures of people taking down bears with this CCU. Pistol to Rifle Carbine conversion kit/unit. User ID: 622918 United States 02/25/2009 06:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had the pleasure of firing a .22 and a .45 ACP today. Never shot a pistol before, and we didn't have the best targets, orange dealies in the snow. He hit them, I didn't. Something to shoot for: aim is next on my list. He had the pleasure of shooting my Mossberg shotgun, which he had never done before. That special ops stock ET suggested kicks ass. Now I can actually aim the gun at uninvited guests. We went back to his place, spent an hour cleaning our weapons and now we are cookin' dinner. Actually, I am, he's out on the sled driving around in circles. It's his pistol, and I'd like to learn to use iron sights first. I was surprised at how shaky I was (35 degrees outside), and know that if I was "tested" I'd be even shakier. But then again, we could install one for the initial learning curve and take it out later. Good advice. Thanks. That Mossberg could tear a hole in an uninvited guest no matter how shaky I am and with no aim. But I do recommend switching a pistol grip for a combo. |

02/25/2009 07:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Finally got to shoot with the new shotgun stock! Glad you liked it! A laser can be a good training tool on a pistol. They allow you to see if you're flinching or pulling the gun off target as you squeeze the trigger. I'm not crazy about them on defensive guns though. They can get knocked out of alignment, and unless you're using the iron sights also, you'll miss. They also give the bad guy a nice bright red light to aim at. |

I barely felt it in my shoulder. I hear you. Don't need a laser at home w/the Mossberg, just enough balls to pull the trigger if I need to. I definitely need work on the iron sights. We were shooting at targets in the snow and there was no feedback like at a range or with an actual target that is more than 2 inches in diameter. Going shopping for more booooolits ASAP. I'm hooked. |
