The term patriot doesn’t even begin to describe Paul (Roy) Benavidez. I think ‘Hero’ works pretty well though.

A note from the photoplay creator:

I did this as a way to honor all those who have struggled to come back from serving our country in times of war. The most interesting part for me was something I didn't find out until after I created this photoplay, was that this was Roy's second tour. He had been so gravely wounded, by stepping on a landmine, on his first tour that he was drummed out of the Army after returning. Roy built his body back up and returned to the service after proving himself fit and joined the elite Green Beret's and went back to Vietnam for a second tour for which he received the Medal of Honor.

Heard of him in Army Boot camp.

EVERY school in the US needs a class that tells EVERY Americans stories like this one. we need to remember and honor the HEROS who do these things.

this is just as important as any math or language you will ever learn!

They will spend more time talking about Bill Ayres and the reasons why he was a domestic terrorist than about a true American hero.

its total BS! if schools can preach about that old slavery crap then they better teach about all of our heros!

i want there to be a mandatory history class that talks about all of our heros and makes students do biographies of them. from the start of our nation to now. and every year they will add every man and woman who do the outstanding for their fellow countrymen and country.

Every kid playing one of those war video games should watch that every day!!!!!

Where are those kinds of heros today???

What an amazing incredible hero, may his legacy go down in history. May good teachers teach lessons on the virtue of heroism using him for all to learn from.


Thank you for the post, my age group went to Vietnam as we left highschool, several never came home. Stories like this resinate with me.
