SUPER MAGNETIC FILAMENT: The biggest thing on the sun today is not a sunspot. "It's a super magnetic filament," says Pepe Manteca, who photographed the structure using a backyard solar telescope in Barcelona, Spain:

"It's very big," says Manteca. To be precise, it stretches 370,000 km from end to end--about the same as the distance from Earth to the Moon. One end of the filament is attached to sunspot AR3032; the other end is not pinned to anything.

Powerful currents of plasma are coursing through the filament, according to NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory.

If the structure becomes unstable and erupts, it could hurl a significant CME away from the sun. Stay tuned.

Since this "event" happens in only about 24 hours from the
early morning hours 6-20-2022...this informative and
"classy presentation on THE SOLSTICE" from Nemesis Maturity
would be a nice addition to the discussion this coming week.

I was ALSO VERY SURPRISED TO LEARN that there is yet another
"shadow EVENT" at the Temple of the Sun at Chichen Itza
on the Summer and Fall Solstices that doesn't get much
media coverage (as opposed to the "SNAKE DOWN THE STAIRCASE"
THE EQUINOX "EVENTS" SHOW US!)

There are a few good Youtube info-videos on the Solstice
at Chichen Itza and at other stone monuments around the
planet--but I'll leave it for you to "do your own homework"
if you are interested. I'll just drop the clue here!

HEADS-UP all "Solar Sensitives"--Sun Spot3038 is a "BAD ACTOR"
and if it releases a predicted M-Class Flare (or Higher)...
it is Earth-facing at this hour. The 3 central "cores" are
each the size of our planet (with a beautiful shot in the

BIG SUNSPOT ALERT: Yesterday, sunspot AR3038 was big. Today, it's enormous. The fast-growing sunspot has doubled in size in only 24 hours. AR3038 has an unstable 'beta-gamma' magnetic field that habors energy for M-class solar flares, and it is directly facing Earth.

SOLSTICE PLASMA TWISTER: Imagine a tornado 20,000 km tall, twirling hot plasma in a vortex big enough to swallow Earth. Here it is:

Apollo Lasky of Naperville, Illinois, photographed the twister on June 21st, the summer solstice, using a backyard solar telescope. This solar storm system did not hurl material toward Earth. Instead, most of the tornado fell back to the sun after an exhausting spin.

Updated solar imagery courtesy of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is currently unavailable due to a widespread power outage. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

"HMI and AIA data are temporarily unavailable. A widespread power outage has closed the Stanford campus that hosts the SDO Data Center."

I'm finally reconnected.....

I find some cosmic irony in the fact that NASA/SDO still has no internet.

A very strange coincidence as I was w/o internet for 5 days and SOL held back on major flares and CMEs and then SDO shut off as well.

Weird, huh?
