Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1495531 Also the shelf life for most of the antibiotics is much longer than the label says (but for God's sake do your own research and don't take my word for it; I think tetracycline is dangerous once it expires but google for yourself). What HE Said OP............SHHHH |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1250682 United States 09/28/2011 12:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Studies performed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed that 90% of medications tested were perfectly fine to use 8-to-15 years after the expiration date. There was apparently no danger in the grand majority of cases. The FDA tested more than 100 medications, both prescription and non-prescription, and continues to study the issue today. The exceptions were mostly in liquid form (antibiotics included, but also insulin, nitroglycerine and some others). What is true is that the potency of an antibiotic could possibly decrease over time, so it is important that your medication cache is in a cool, dry place if at all possible. Refrigeration is an excellent method to maintain the full potency of many drugs. |

Burns like methialade, but I promise you, there is NOTHING better. Also softens scars, heal fiddleback spider bites. You cannot believe what this stuff is good for. The pharmaceutical companies are unable to reproduce its effects and thus, are unable to patent it. Look at the old home remedies. They work. Character is what you are. Anonymous Coward User ID: 2327652 United States 09/29/2011 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So i am a prepper, i have taken care of almost everything i reasonably can. One thing that has scared the shit out of me though is my lack of medication. i have all the basic "over the counter" stuff but that only goes so far. the closest thing i had to antibiotics is heavy duty MRSA/Staff style neosporin. cant hurt but i obviously want much better than this. Quoting: Anonymous Ameritard I had heard the best thing to do was go to a doctor and tell them you are travelling to the Philippines to get them to prescribe you some Cipro but even that is not good enough. I want to be as prepared as possible and found out a MUCH better way to take care of this. "Fish" antibiotics available at your local store/amazon are actually human pill form name brand antibiotics. The best part is they are CHEAP AS SHIT. Most of the cost in human antibiotics is for big pharma to make an asston of profit and protect themselves from lawsuits. The directions on these are to just crush them up and add them to the water in your tank. I guess people have known about this for years but i some how missed it in my research. I have taken first responder classes and know how to deal with most common injuries all the way up to minor gun shot wounds, but in these classes the steps always are stop the bleeding, then get them to the hospital. we all know this may not be feasible in the future. So my question is, those with EMT/Nursing/Medical experience can you please help me pick out a broad range of antibiotics i might need? You know in case my "fish" gets Shot, needs and amputation, is exposed to a new undocumented bacteria, gets pneumonia, has a urinary tract infection, giardia etc etc. Anything that might happen if say my "fish" needed to escape to his bail out location and not have access to "fish doctors". I plan on continuing my medical education and learning how to do blood transfusions, more field surgeries, etc etc. but there is no time like the present! Here are some of the medications available right now online. Aquatic Tetracycline 250mg. 100 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Azithromycin 250mg. 30 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Ciprofloxacin 250mg. 50 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Ampicillin 500mg. 50 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Doxycycline 100mg. 100 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Clindamycin 150mg. 100 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Ketoconazole 200mg. 50 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment - 1/8 oz [link to www.amazon.com] Aquatic Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim 800/160mg. 100 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP [link to www.amazon.com] Fish Zole (Metronidazole) 250mg, 100 Tablets [link to www.amazon.com] Procaine Penicillin G - 250 cc [link to www.amazon.com] As you can see there are TONS of choices and i probably could find even more on a specific site that deals with this. I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction as far as a basic list. Willing to drop a good amount of cash on this as these will be very important and no way to get them. Also potential value in trade would be huge. Are there any other "veterinary" medications out there i am unaware of that can also be purchased in this way? i assume pain killers are impossible to get no matter what because of all the druggies out there. Guess the best thing i can do for that is booze. But what about antivirals, anticoagulants, antifungals, anything else i am not thinking of? Any help is greatly appreciated. Screw all that. Quality Colloidal Silver + Olive Leaf Extract + Grapefruit Seed Extract + Oil of Oregano + Vitamins and Minerals = Good luck germs, viruses, pathogens, and bacteria. |

You'll be able to make an unlimited supply after the SHTF, and there are no side effects, like with the hardcore crap. I've been taking a dose every day for 12 yeas, and haven't been sick, and haven't turned blue, because I make it the RIGHT way. There's never been a SINGLE case of blue skin (Argyria) from PROPERLY made Colloidal Silver. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1554582 United States 10/17/2011 09:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So WHICH antibiotics should I store? I have like $100 available to spend on antibiotics for my shtf supplies, but I don't know beans about them. Which are the most useful/important? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1250682 My top five antibiotics would therefore be: Cephalexin Ciprofloxacin Erythromycin Metronidazole SMZ-TMP Of these, SMZ-TMP and ciprofloxacin have the most duplicate coverage, as do cephalexin and erythromycin. Since the intolerance of erythromycin is much higher than is allergy to cephalexin, I would favor cephalexin. Ciprofloxacin is stronger for intra-abdominal infections than SMZ-TMP, and is less likely to develop resistance. Although its use in children is a bit of a concern due to the question of joint pain (although this is rare), I would favor ciprofloxacin over than SMZ-TMP, even though SMZ-TMP is effective against MRSA. However, when the use of antibiotics is severely curtailed, antibiotic resistance will also decrease, and therefore MRSA will become less of a concern. Therefore, my top three antibiotics to stockpile would be: Cephalexin Ciprofloxacin Metronidazole Using these three alone or in combination would cover around 90% of the infections physicians commonly encounter, as well as several less-likely threats (including anthrax and C. diff). There are many others but these are at the top of my list. Research them and understand why. CHECK first to see if your brand can/can not be taken w food antib last over 10 years if dry and not warm first choice for a limited budget should be cipro - but it is hardcore and is a serious antib |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 965819 Canada 11/15/2011 04:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Aquarium drugs are ok for "fish" but not really necessary. Just buy from a well known foreign chemist/pharmacy. Revues are all over the better sites of contented consumers. The real reason tptb don't want us buying foreign is simply you'll be stealing money out of the big companies pockets who have their drugs made in foreign labs and shipped from foreign pharmacies too. Of course customs are slow so expect almost 2 weeks until you get your shipments. Most pharmacies guarantee lost or custom held shipments too. I know if I post a pharmacy name this post will disappear but just look at site revues. |
