Kelowna, BC. Not too worried! But ya never know. I remember hearing a few years ago some people were saying that tptb were going mess up the grid and cause chaos. I think the vids are still on you tube somewhere.

Solar flares take about 8 minutes to reach earth. Coronal Mass Ejections (CME's) take a few days. Neither had anything to do with this.
 Quoting: Doompa Loompa

well, i don't think it did either.
but, that doesn't alter the fact that the front end of the
X2 CME of Sept. 6 arrived at Earth around 3 p.m.
pacific time today.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1540853

Link? My understanding is the first CME wont arrive until later today. All geophysical activity has been quiet today.

Solar flares take about 8 minutes to reach earth. Coronal Mass Ejections (CME's) take a few days. Neither had anything to do with this.
 Quoting: Doompa Loompa

Solar flares emit x rays and other frequencies of electromagnetic energy that travel at the same speed as visible light, meaning it take about 9 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun.

These frequencies of EMR are not the cause of power grid failures related to solar flares, but do have biological consequences, especially when we get a tremendous blast of UV and x rays like the last X class flare produced.

Coronal mass ejections vary in velocity and are composed of particle radiation from the Sun in the form of plasma. Some CME's have reached Earth in under 12 hours and others have taken a week to fully arrive. The velocity of the ejection of material determines how long it takes to reach Earth, generally the more energetic the eruption the higher the velocity.

Your statement may or may not be correct, but I suspect you don't have a clue what you're talking about really.

We have holes in our magnetosphere that are allowing radiation to penetrate to the surface and NO ONE, not you , not me, not NASA and not NOAA has any idea what the effects will be in a given location because the situation is so fluid and it is so unpredictable where these holes will be on any given day.

A perfect storm like event could cause mass death and failure of electronic equipment in a localized area, while leaving surrounding areas unaffected.. It is conceivably possible to have a grid overload in a localized area from a less than total failure of the magnetosphere, meaning some areas would be totally unaffected while others were bathed in particle radiation.

I definitely would not rule out effects from solar radiation storms as the cause, and I am probably as knowledgeable in this field of study as any other person on this planet.

I am also aware that this problem is intentionally being downplayed and data is being filtered, altered and even totally withheld that is critical to the future survival of not only our own species, but most of the species on this planet.

You sound like you're here to downplay the severity of the problem and it's implications, am I correct?

I don't claim to be an expert. I was just pointing out the difference between the two, and my opinion that neither are the cause based on timing, recent similar events, and all the information available to me.

Someone mentioned it could be a distraction to sneak something across border, etc. I hope not. I hope it was just a system overload on the grid.

The US power grid is highly vulnerable. I think this was an attack and we'll start to see other parts of the grid go down over the next few days, then some major bomb or tactical nuke attacks. The US economy CAN'T handle even a minor attack, prepare for the chaos. Keep your kids close, and your guns loaded.

SOMEONE FROM CALIFORNIA....please answer...
How is another country (mexico) on the same grid as the US?
Are people from Mexico paying their electric bill to the same company that supplies electric to california and Arizona? I dont get it and never heard of this.

The border is pretty darned porous, with America spilling into Mexico a bit and Mexico spilling nto the US. siren2Americans galore in Mexico, often retirees but also tourists, sportfishing fans, surfers, etc. lots of Mexicans in the US. The border is more a gradient not a demarcation. So having the same power company on both sides doesn't seem too surprising. .

What if this whole thing was actually to stop another psy-op 9/11 attack. Only it was going to happen on 9/9/11?

Those who are trying to prevent another 9/11 psy-op stopped it by the way of cutting power lines. It makes a bit of sense considering warnings were going out to get the public ready for another sort of attack.

There really was no solid reason for this power cut and yet it happened with no plausable explanation.

To add to this. Tony Blair gave an interview yesterday stating that Iran and Syria must have a regim change. Timing is very suspect. Imagin telling the leaders and public about Iran and Syria and then a psy-op attack to convince the American sheeple for another round of Libya on Iran and syria.
Thankfully it did not work. He must be pissed.
