Re: ZimmermanTrial - The Verdict - (?)
I don't get why people wanting to convict Zimmerman are so hung up on who started the fight? First of all, are we in elementary school? And secondly, that argument never worked with my parents but it seems to be all that matters to those of a certain political persuasion , I've noticed.

Anyway, so what if George Zimmerman got out of his truck? So what if he DID follow TM? Following someone is not illegal, it's not even immoral. So how can people get all bent out of shape bc Zimmerman "followed" and yet think it was perfectly reasonable and acceptable that TM punched and tried to beat Zimmerman? There is just no logic to these arguments.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35693444

The logical extension of the "he shouldn't have followed" argument is that there should no neighborhood watch at all, and that people should just cower in their homes...
 Quoting: Molon Labe 2013

Any responsible human being knows that carrying a firearm under the protection of a ccw should avoid confrontation. Following is the job of law enforcement. Security guards and citizens observe and report. This man imo is guilty. I think walking around at night is not a crime.

all of you saying that Trayvon Martin was in the wrong, or those of you who are insensitive and soulless that love to hear about how another "buck" was disposed of get pleasure from stories like this, what if this was your son?

This could have been your son.

I cannot believe that there are people out there condoning the killing of a boy.

I think zimmerman followed martin, martin gave him hell for following him, zimmerman didnt like it(hes a cop wannabe), zimmerman started the fight, probably got his ass kicked by martin, and zimmerman got butt hurt and shot him. the evidence does not lie. have any of you actually watched any of the court room footage? Zimmermans mind was filled with hatred that evening. He was playing the role of a vigilante. the system has failed one of our citizens. the responding police officer did not even conduct a sobriety test of Mr. Zimmerman. Martin had no dna on his hands indicating that he punched zimmerman, there was grass on the front of zimmerman's boots! indicating he was on top!

I dont like the race card one bit, it makes me very very uncomfortable. I believe we all know that we are human beings and equal on all levels.but some choose to believe that we are not and hate other colors of skin. My stepfather is of another color and i absolutely despise racial hatred, bias, bigotry and the like.

George, Karma will find you.
 Quoting: Marx Akesnoff

I think you see through emotion and not logic.

There is no evidence there was hate in his heart, that he was being a vigilante, etc. These are your emotions. There is no evidence for anything you're saying here at all. Speculation based on feeling....

The evidence says otherwise.

So it was ok for Trayvon to assault a bus driver, and homeless people..

Confrontation? I bet George got jumped just as he said..
 Quoting: Tangy

No, assaulting innocent people is never acceptable. That is why Trayvon is dead. This has nothing to do with anything about a bus driver or homeless people. Hopefully Mr. Zimmerman knew nothing about Mr.Martin vice versa. I would like to just stick to facts about that evening only. as the courts did.

Yes of course we can have a discussion about Trayvon's fb page, and George being a cop wannabe. but that's besides the point. A grown man (Armed, and mindset was hatred, NEN # "Fucking punks" "They always come out at night") followed an innocent (Until proven guilty, as far as I know he was not proven to have committed any crime February 26 2012) 17 year old BOY, now the boy is dead.

I completely understand wanting to look out for your neighbors, absolutely i would do the same, i have a wife and son. and i am a security going into corrections hopefully next week. I was taught in my ccw training you do not provoke any confrontation period.

This could have been your son, my son, your brother, cousin, nephew. There just was not enough evidence. there was a loophole, George knew what to say to justify his actions. Because he was a cop wannabe.
 Quoting: Marx Akesnoff

People that think like this just can't be reasoned with. I find that so alarming.

 Quoting: Tangy

Why do you believe he got jumped? he only had a bloody nose, and two small cuts on his head, no bruises or swelling either.

If someone was following me i would be a little pissed off. Black or white. He should not have been following, nen# said "we do not need you to do that, we have an officer on the way".
 Quoting: Marx Akesnoff

At which point he was returning to his car.

You know TM was found with jewelry stolen from the neighborhood right? The whole reason they had formed this neighborhood watch. And the night in question he was high. If I see a kid in the rain, that I've never seen before, acting weird after a bunch of thefts in the neighborhood, I'm going to call 911 also..and I'm going to try to keep sight of the perp. If they say we don't need you to do that, I'd do what George did and turn towards my car. If I'm then ambushed and attacked and I have a gun, I'm going to use it. That's the way our laws work. If you assault someone, they can defend themselves....which TM well knew as he was in the process of acquiring a gun - illegally.

Zimmerman could have been your son also.

So you think George should have let himself be beat just a bit more before firing his weapon?
 Quoting: Tangy

Absolutely to both of your comments. I would also tell my son to not follow anyone if he has a gun. We would not have this situation had George not followed this "fucking punk". What I dont understand is why George called him a "fucking punk" he had no contact with Martin prior to.
 Quoting: Marx Akesnoff

He WAS a punk!!!! Hello! That argument would be a great one if he he hadn't turned out to be a thief who was high on drugs, kicked out of school, suspended for fighting....

He only fired because TM found the gun and they were wrestling for it. Come on, at least do some research at this point before going on the same tired stuff that's been hashed and rehashed and PROVEN in court.

She said the same, also said that when they first went into deliberations that 3 were for not guilty, 2 for manslaughter and 1 for 2nd degree.

Re: ZimmermanTrial - The Verdict - (?)
After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the George Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, records released Thursday show.

Even the lead detective in the case, Sanford Det. Chris Serino, told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances — but not his race.

Serino saw Zimmerman as “having little hero complex, but not as a racist.”

I just caught this "live" in NZ thanks to your alert. At first I thought ...what the hell is she speaking for???
But during the interview and at the end.. I thought WOW!.. what a great job and what a revealing interview.

I thought CNN ( panel members ) got handed their ass ( arse in NZ..:-) ).

I completely agree with the verdict.. and I was very interested to learn that at first it was a very split jury but they worked hard and came to the correct decision based on the evidence and the law.

Re: ZimmermanTrial - The Verdict - (?)
Hi Sir P, I have followed the trial via your threads on GLP and these are my first comments. I feel I have been watching history. My wife is sick of me too... :-)...

However the "news" coverage here is AP and Reutiers and is superficial and biased. Still showing the Trayvon at 12 yrs old photo.. as I see also in the USA. ( a kind of lie).

After the verdict the news here on TV gave the impression that it was a shock "not guilty" and everyone disagreed. We actually sent in a complaint to our main TV channel for biased reporting. The polls show 2:1 support of verdict.

Thus the Jurors report and opinions were so refreshing.

This may be a pivotal moment in USA race relations ( an opposite of OJ ).

My wife was a teacher in the USA and says that if she had called any of her 17 yr old black or hispanic students "children" she would have gotten an instant reaction of outrage. WE are Adults!!! ( some of them fathers or mothers at this age). This idea that a child was shot.. is BS....spin...lies.

Has anyone else seen this video on facebook...a reenactment of what took place the night of the incident? What do you think about it?

Thing is, the USDOJ is not going to let it go and all the groups wanting Zimmerman to be retried again. They don't like the outcome so they want to continue until they get the verdict they want. Sad world we are in. We can't have faith in the justice system at all, when we have people running rampant all over it.

sigh

Zimmerman could have been your son also.

So you think George should have let himself be beat just a bit more before firing his weapon?
 Quoting: Tangy

Absolutely to both of your comments. I would also tell my son to not follow anyone if he has a gun. We would not have this situation had George not followed this "fucking punk". What I dont understand is why George called him a "fucking punk" he had no contact with Martin prior to.

And we thought it would be over after the verdict. It seems like it's still just beginning.

This is about an agenda to repeal our "stand your ground" law, here in Florida. The USDOJ doesn't care about these families. They care about what they are trying to accomplish. These families are just merely pawns in the game.
