Anonymous Coward User ID: 61510317 Canada 09/11/2014 09:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would start restricting his food access - give him smaller portions, try to control how fast he's eating. Quoting: Em18966 Either way, like other posters have suggested, you may want to take him in to the vet and have some bloodwork done at the very least. He could be diabetic or a host of other problems. If that doesn't figure things out, you may be looking at some more expensive testing/scans to see if he's got something going on anatomically. Poor dude. As an animal lover, I know how frustrating it can be when they get sick - they can't tell you what's wrong or different. It makes diagnosis a bitch sometimes. agreed get the cat to a vet. Have some blood work done. He may be diabetic. Is he urinating a lot? If so that is a sign of diabetes. If it is diabetes, know that cats are carnivorous so bagged dry feed is not good for them they need meat, not cereals |

A smaller female and a fat one like you describe. Weaning them off and no dry food between wet food did the trick. If there is blood it can be a kidney infection, blood in the hurl that is. Fancy feast and Amoire may be convenient but bad for them. Science diet is boring to them and non-palette able. It's easy to find something worth dying for. Do you have anything worth living for? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 62777093 United States 09/11/2014 09:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just start giving him only 1/3 cup of food, twice per day. Store the rest of his food so he can not get to it. Just that, with plenty of fresh water every day. Wet food is better than dry food for most part. You can't just let him eat out of an open bag of cat food. You can't just leave full bowls of cat food for him to eat. |

My other was perfectly fine. I switched them to a more expensive food with zero byproduct. Not only does she eat less and has lost 5 lbs (that's a lot for a cat), but her poo is much better. Aside from better food - GET HIM TO THE VET ASAP. You're killing your cat by letting him eat so much. :( |

I took him to the vet, and there was nothing wrong with him. I had a hard time feeding him that sticky hairball control stuff, since he was originally a feral cat, so I just did the best I could. He was big, strong, and healthy and the throwing up didn't seem to affect him, but it wasn't that often. |

Cats LOVE eating it, but if they do, it jams up their intestine. To remove it is a big operation and costly. You cannot pull it out or you will severe his intestine and possible other vital organs. Best thing, NEVER, NEVER leave dental floss around. Always flush it down the pan. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62018114 You really really gotta take him to the vet and be prepared for the vet to tell you food to purchase to get him down to the right weight without your even asking. Also could be furballs or worms. Best to ask the vet. If you love your cat why can't you spend the money for the office visit? |

Really, if this guy gives a shit about his cat, he needs to spend the money to take it to the vet. The cat's in serious trouble at that weight and those symptoms. You can't just "guess" with your supposed "people too". You take PEOPLE to the doctor DO IT WITH YOUR CATS OR DON'T HAVE THEM. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 45823159 United States 09/11/2014 10:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 32lb for any domestic cat is extremely obese, my girlfriend is a vet tech and she said you should take him to the vet either way. he could have diabetes and this could be causing him to be this heavy, he also could have hyper-thyroid issues, so it is actually important to take the cat to see the vet Quoting: BlueRidgeDoom You've been given basic instructions on what to do to seek the proper help, now its up to you to actually get this done. He could be throwing up because something is not healthy within the cat, not because he wants to keep eating. I know that sounds like a nice plausible excuse but I think there is more going on inside CAT DOOM! yup, thats my guess too. probably a thyroid issue, they can control that will daily pills and even a prescription diet like my cat is on. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 62393680 United States 09/11/2014 10:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My cat does that once or twice a week. She eats too fast then pukes. It is always a big pile of unchewed food. The worst part about it? She gets up on something high then pukes. So I never have a nice little pile on the floor, damned cat. She has done this for years and she has nothing wrong with her according to the vet, other than sometimes just eating too fast. |
