natural tobacco isn't that bad for you.

to increase yields, they started using phosphate based fertilizers. works great, except phosphate based fertilizers tend to be mined in areas contaminated with lead, cadmium, uranium, and polonium.

the polonium is what gets ya. uranium breaks down to polonium-210. they've known that their tobacco has had Po-210 for 50 years. on top of that you have the chemicals they add to help get the other chemicals across the blood-brain barrier, and in the last few years the absolutely terrible fire-safe papers.

nicotine is an extremely useful substance for us. there are other useful substances in tobacco. first-hand and second-hand smoke have been used as a... smoke-screen charlie to cover for the various nuclear tests and internal combustion engine exhaust.

stay away from megabrands. find the natural stuff, roll your own or get a pipe. e-cigs can be great imo, but you might miss out on some of the other natural substances in tobacco. natural cures and boosts work by being in balance... attempting to extract a single substance isn't the best way to go.

It makes perfect sense! The Hospital wont hire staff that smokes cigarettes because Nicotine is a cure to Ebola and they want their staff to contract Ebola and die!

This has nothing to do with all of the evidence that smoking and nicotine is bad for your health.

I'm going to start smoking today!

I'm currently sitting in Saudi so PBS Frontline won't let me post the video so I'll try the link to the video.

It's a PBS (I know) documentary on the current doom in West Africa but interestingly enough it shows in the video how ZMAPP is grown in specially modified tobacco leaves.

[link to www.pbs.org]

Also, here is a link to an article on WebMD talking about the same thing.

[link to www.webmd.com]

For what it's worth to you smokers, a carton of cigarettes here in Saudi is $18 USD. And they are the non fire safe (FSC) cigs. Thought I'd make your day.

You people confuse me 'the avid non smokers calling the ones idiots for thinking there may be a link here'. seriously..who the hell do you think has been telling you smoking is bad for you. the very same people you swear are trying to kill you daily in this very forum. man...open your mind...cleanse the brainwashing and just think about it for a bit. the very same people who tell you smoking is bad for you claimed marijuana had no medicinal value and made it illegal....we all know how true those claims were. nicotine has a number of beneficial properties. seems kinda funny how hard they demonized smoking...yet most of the elite use tobacco in one form or another. Before you parrot what has been rammed into your head over the last 20 years, investigate it for yourself and keep an open mind.

A lot of you know that I am a nurse. 2 months ago, I get a call from a former employer, Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, asking if I'd like to come back to work there.

Seems they are having a hard time with staff after going nicotine-free. Now I don't mean no smoking on campus, what we are talking about here is they are drug screening for cotinine (nicotine). I don't smoke, but this means no smoking on your day off, no nicotine patch, no nicotine gum, nada.

In 2009, Barnes Hospital forced all the employees to take flu shots. Keep in mind, the CEO of Barnes is on the St. Louis Branch of the Federal Reserve, and we know how much concern those guys have regarding our well-being. Well, I quit because of the flu shot deal, now they say if I come back (no flu shot) they will reinstate my previous hours worked toward retirement. The recruiter sounded desperate.

Add to this the current efforts to get rid of e-cigarettes.Here's an article about how nicotine is used to make ZMAPP. [link to conservativebyte.com]

They have a statement on their web page that they won't hire anyone who uses nicotine, but this doesn't apply to their Illinois facilities, only Missouri. I'll post a smilie once it gets approved.

Years ago the government wanted everyone to smoke because they made lots of money from cigarette tax.

In the late 80's they declared war on cigarettes and started banning smoking inside most buildings. Fast forward to today and you can't smoke anywhere.

We all know that the government doesn't give a crap about any of us so why would they declare war on tobacco when they collect millions in tax revenue from smokers?

If you believe the studies, cigarettes should kill off most smokers before they have a chance to collect social security, so the government wins by not having to pay out any SS money.

Here is the irony of it all, lots of smokers today are healthier than their non-smoking counter parts. Why? Because smokers get plenty of exercise walking around trying to find a place to smoke. Smokers stand outside in the sun and get their daily dose of vitamin D. Smokers interact and talk to other smokers while they are huddled together in designated smoking areas instead of sitting alone with their face in an I-phone.

Another thing that I don't understand is if smoking deadly, why are so many states getting on the legalize pot band wagon? I guess second hand pot smoke is better for you than tobacco smoke...or at least that is what they want the people to believe.

another do

smoking since I was 15 years old. I'm in my middle 60's now and in better health than a lot of people I see in their 30's.

On no prescription medications and haven't been to a doctor in 25 years even though I have full medical coverage.

Many people I have known in the past are dead now and a lot of them died of cancer even though they never smoked a cigarette in their entire lives. Most of them were sheep and did everything the self proclaimed "experts" told them to do. so why are they 6 feet under and I'm still running around in better shape than when I was in my 20's?

My only thoughts are "I told you so". God gave you a brain and expects you to use it, never let anyone do your thinking for you. These "experts" are nothing more than pied pipers wanting you to follow them off a cliff to your death.

Nicotine as a compound is EXTREMELY addictive, but health wise it is relatively benign. It is not a carcinogen and it actually has some health benefits. Tobacco has a LOT more "stuff" that is bad, no matter if hand rolled or grown in your back yard.

I grew a field of it from seedman dot com a few years back and all those pretty, large moths I saw on my four o' clocks were actually sphinx ass moths that I battled the entire time growing the plants. Spent every day killing those worms...if you didn't go out and dust with Dipel or crush the eggs, those little assholes were like tomato horn worms and would eat an entire tobacco plant in one day once they got to size...green like the plant and about 5" long.

Jerks.

Haven't had the time to manage a crop since then.

Sidenote: with the plants you do get to flower, you got a million seeds to plant the next year. Biggest downside is having a good curing room (hot, humid) and time.

And until you draw the line and you're willing to die for what you believe in, they will keep taking and taking and taking and taking, until there is no more left to take. fool
smoking doesn't cause lung cancer
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56434056

Cell mutation after cell replication causes cancer. Smoking causes your lung cells to wear out and replicate more often in attempt to repair/replace than they would without smoking.
So smoking promotes more frequent cell replication which can cause cancer if you have a cell that mutates and is not taken care of by your immune system.

Better off not to smoke. It increases your odds of winning the cancer lottery.
