Looking to buy a handgun need some advice
Looking to buy a handgun glp.

What should I get? I want something that I can take to the range regularly, something to carry on me whil camping and something to use as a home defense.

Is there a gun that will fit those categories?

I'm a big guy 6'3" with big hands if that makes a difference.

I've also shot plenty of guns before so I'm not a total rookie.

Get a .40 good for home defense, a 9mm is good too, more accurate than a 40 and cheaper ammo, but not as powerful as 40

44 is too powerful, too expensive to shoot..

.40 is plenty powerful enough and cheaper to shoot.

most cops and Fbi carry .40

These are ALL great responses.

My Advice.... Go to a range where you can rent a few. Find one that feels natural in your hand and practice, Practice, PRACTICE.
One of these days... A *REAL* rain is gonna come and wash all this scum off the streets.

This is nice, own one.
however, a bit awkward for Conceal Carry.

.357 is a good all around defense, easy to carry.

It would give you enough rounds to reach for the Kimber .45 which has extra mags handy.

Home defense 12 gauge is the only way to go.

I see what you mean. I saw him a big man, and if I can hold one certainly he could..I have no clue what cops or FBI carry.I also did not think of the recreation of it.Just for defense..'rambles on unintelligently to self'..

Re: Looking to buy a handgun need some advice
MY advice: Ask yourself, why am I buying a gun?

Is it for protection? Who are you protecting yourself from exactly? Is it from the troops coming to take your land during the apocalypse? You don't stand a chance my friend, even with a rifle. To protect yourself from other scavengers during this "end time" you all fear? They will have rifles and organized militia groups you don't stand a chance with a hand gun.

Is it to give yourself a false sense of security? Or to boost your ego simply because owning a gun makes people feel powerful?

I already know the answer and so buy a gun you retarded human being. That's my advice.

Ignore Kermit

92 Beretta FS is the best handgun ever made price per pound, with the exception of the m1911 possibly.

God bless

Re: Looking to buy a handgun need some advice
COLT 1911 in 45 ACP is a nice gun all around.

The Smith & Wesson M&P series is also a nice gun, available in 9mm, 40, and 45 ACP.

It depends if you are going to try to conceal carry or open carry.

Those guns are full size and hard to conceal.

If you look a bit you could find a nice used Star Firestar in 45 ACP that is compact and easily concealable. The 45 Star is kind of under the radar. Star was an Italian company that imported through Interarms. Both companies are now gone, but the Star is a top notch performer, and can be bought for a minimal investment and will shoot nice tight groups as good as anything out there.

Glock, Sig Sauer, and Kimber are also great brands to look at, but you will pay a premium for their name.

You may want to go to the local gun store that has a shooting range and see if they will rent you several different guns over a couple of weekends to try at their range.

No, like I said earlier, it's for recreation, and for out camping. It is nice to have a weapon in the home, because bad things do happen from time to time.

I don't see how it makes me retarded. But thanks for the well thought out and drawn out response.

92fs stands the test of time. 100% reliable with less than an ounce of dirt in it. Fairly accurate even after falling off a waterfall. It's always ready to go. Has a sweet chamber loaded indicator. firing pin disengage. Double or single action, with or without clip in.

I been abusing mine since 98 carried in the woods and through the streams and I would bet my life on it's reliability.

The Shield in 9mm and the Body Guard in 380 are both nice for a backup gun. I prefer the larger caliber guns my self, 40 and preferably 45 ACP.

For everyday shooting multipurpose and good ammo price.

Springfield XD 40 caliber.

Perfect for having fun and just in case. Plus more accurate and more comfortable than flock for most shooters.
