Canine flu puts rescue in a pinch

The persistence of canine influenza has put Alive Rescue in a bind.

Alive recently took in five dogs, all owner surrenders, from an animal control facility. Within a day, two of the dogs began showing signs of being sick. Treatment was initiated, but it was too late. Now, 13 of Alive's dogs have pneumonia and/or canine influenza, and the organization is trying to keep up.

I don't know if any of you follow the clock. But this year it was moved to 3 minutes until midnight. Last time it was moved, was in 2012, 5 minutes until midnight.

Storm system could bring hail for Perth, snow for state's south

A storm system Is due to hit Perth and the state's south on Saturday with the possibility of hail in the city and snow on the Stirling Ranges.

Weather forecasters say there is a chance of gusty thunderstorms for Perth in the morning and again in the evening with the possibility of hail from the late afternoon.

There is close to a 100 per cent chance of rain.

Ash cloud cancels more Bali flights

More holiday plans have gone up in smoke as a volcanic ash cloud prompts the cancellation of more flights in and out of Bali.

Jetstar had expected to resume flights into Denpasar Airport from Saturday afternoon but it has now cancelled all Saturday flights and two on Sunday.

The situation remains fluid and more cancellations could follow.

Rain run-off into Perth dams at lowest ever level

The amount of rainwater run-off into Perth's dams this year is the lowest since records began in 1911.

The Water Corporation described it as "virtually non-existent since the start of winter".

Spokeswoman Claire Lugar said Perth's dams had received a total of 2.3 billion litres of inflow.

"This is the lowest ever inflow for May, June and July," she said.

Oklahoma shaken by 40 earthquakes in one week, fracking waste blamed

An astounding 40 earthquakes were reported within the period of a week in Oklahoma in late July. State Gov. Mary Fallin acknowledged the link between such earthquake clusters and wastewater disposal procedures used in fracking operations.

Ohio woman dies from Legionnaires' disease after tenth person passes away in New York outbreak that has infected 100

A woman in northeast Ohio has died from Legionnaires' disease, raising fears of a second outbreak after one in New York which has already claimed ten lives.

The victim, identified by family members as Elaine Stacer, 53, from Brunswick, passed away at Cleveland's University Hospital yesterday morning, a spokesman for the center said.

Looks like a 747. Now I know they are made to be aerodynamic. But without passengers, they weight something like 399,000 pounds.

I think this is the same plane from another angel. The wind is even making the engines spin.
