Mine would be kids Then nobody alive would everof known me shit anit that somthing But even your kids won't remember you as "You". They will remember specific stories, events, and anecdotes starring "you", but even THEY won't remember the "you" who preferred daisies to roses, or who liked pineapple on your pepperoni pizza, or who loved the smell of burning leaves in the Fall and woodstove smoke in the Winter. I know a lady who is sort of experiencing this already. She was a friend of my parents, and she's 97 years old now. All of her friends and family have died, her husband died long ago, her two children died before they had a chance to reproduce so she has no grandkids. She has two nurse/caretakers and a cat. There are very few people who remember her in this World, and she is still alive. And even those who remember her (like me) remember the "her" of 50 years ago; I could probably be on an elevator with her and wouldn't recognize her as she looks now. I guess my point is that Life is transitory, and perhaps the best way to be "remembered" is to keep a journal and write down your thoughts, feelings, observations, etc. "I have come to the conclusion that all news should be treated like 9/11, assume it is a psyop with actors participating in a staged event complete with props, until proven otherwise, in which case assume whatever is being recorded, reported, televised, is distortions/lying by omission/outright lies, until proven otherwise." - Anonymous, 4-13-12 |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 62816685 United States 12/28/2015 01:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We are all just having a human experience. That's all this is. We are MUCH more than this material existence. Now why we incarnate over and over is something I'm a little fuzzy on but...the few decades we're here on Earth---gathering material possessions---- is NOT what we're about. Nor is it important to be remembered afterward because we are all connected on the other side. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60481999 We choose to live this singularity existence as an experience. We chose this!! Life may seem worthless in a retrospective sense but everything we do DOES matter in a grand scheme of things. Yea and it seems that the human experience never really evolves...It's the same over the last few thousand years. Read the bible. Same shit. Murder, jealousy, fornication, betrayal, revenge, begatting, power, control, lies, conspiracies, disasters, natural disasters, wars, births, deaths, illnesses, injuries, prophesies, accidents. What in the hell has changed? Hell - even in 2015: beheadings, stonings, rape, brutality. How many generations of this earthly existence will it take to really evolve as sentient beings? The only thing that changes is technology. The human condition is exactly the same as the day Eve ate the apple. If I was God, I'd be so incredibly bored of Humans by now. Very deep and so true. I have considered this myself. And so why are we here? I wish I knew the answer to that. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 18456771 Philippines 12/28/2015 01:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I will always remember this quote from Goodfellas by Al Pacino, which is 100% relevant to this thread: "Hirsh was a good friend. I remember one time we robbed this liquor store. And he ran over a dog. He cried for two days over that dog. Anyway, he'll be missed by so many of us that got left behind. He was a witness to our lives. Not many of those left. So there's one less person on this earth who knows our name, who remembers our childhood, who shared in each moment as it passed. You know, they say we die twice. Once when the breath leaves our body and once when the last person we know says our name. And then Hirsh’s life will be forgotten like all the other poor fucks that ever had the glory of living. Amen." |

Please allow me to give you another point of view... There are children born in each generation called to be the keepers of family histories/memories. It can take the form of documenting verbal or written stories. Some of those children also tend to take up the interest of recording basic history of people who have impacted their own lives. They may not even be related by blood. I am the keeper of not only my own family history. But I also hold "treasure" from a few special people who shared their joys & pain with me beginning when I was a young girl. I'm still around after 50+ years. I still honor those special people who are not forgotten by me or mine. I know there are many others out there, such as myself. People remember. YES, we do! |
